i just saw this story on my local philadelphia news. i'm trying to find the transcript on-line, but no luck so far.

zulima farber has just been appointed by new (D)Gov. Jon Corzine to be NJ state attorney general. she intends to pursue even more aggressive gun control, and guess why. some years ago she was robbed at knife point. as the man was running away, she said to herself, "boy i wish i had a gun....i would shoot him in the back."

i can't think of anything else to say.

On one hand I'm so glad I recently fled New Jersey. On the other hand, I'm very upset that New Jersey is still considered part of the United States. It's just troubling that she's not the only one who thinks like that (unless that's not considered "thinking"). Might be time for a Calgon bath.

Frankly, I don't see a reason not to regard armed robbers as fair game. If they ever had to fear us as so many of us fear them, they'd suddenly develop a keen interest in flipping hamburgers.

i forgot to mention. this woman also has had 13 speeding tickets in the past 20 some years and has had her driver's license suspended 3 times. she apologized to the people of new jersey. a district attorney nominee who doesn't value obeying basic traffic laws. my friend concluded that she has impulse control problems.

Hi carlrodd-

I think you're being especially courteous to this liberal thug Zulima Farber with regard to her driving record. She has plenty of tickets, suspended licenses, and even several failures to appear in court! Governor Jon Corzine wants to nominate this loser to be the Attorney General!

Complete details can be read in the online version of The Star-Ledger (http://www.nj.com/search/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1138072511284270.xml?starledger?nsl&coll=1&thispage=1) newspaper by clicking the link.

She will be a nightmare to decent and freedom-loving residents of New Jersey and even to the bordering states. You can take the woman out of despotic Cuba...but you can't always take the despotic Cuba out of the woman. New Jersey sure is saddled with lots of corruption...

Just wait Folks its gonna get better Corzine the biggest Crook ever elected to office, he's been in the senate, now the governors office, He will be running for president in 08 The Dems will run him instead of Hitlery. He's a business man, and he has no long record in government. He's going to be the Democrats breath of fresh air for 2008.

He looted the retirement accounts and investments of millions of Americans while he was running Goldman Sachs. Do a search on Goldman settlement, or pump and dump investment. He should be in jail, except for the fact that he was able to squash the Senate investigation of wrongdoing in the securities industry a few years ago. If you have any mutual fund investments this man has stolen money from you. He makes Ken Lay look like a Choir boy.

"We have a crisis in weapons," Street said.

"On probably Monday, I will tell you whether or not we will implement a moratorium on gun permits in this city," Street said.

These are priceless (from the NJ.com story):

The appointment is considered one of Corzine's most important because of his campaign pledge to make ethics a top priority in his administration.:what: If confirmed by the Senate, Farber will replace Attorney General Peter Harvey, who has been criticized for failing to bring significant public corruption cases during his tenure.

and

"I've had some personal problems with driving. I apologize to this committee and the people of this state for that flaw," Farber said. "And I thank the governor for giving me a job with a driver."

When Cardinale continued to press her on the bench warrants, however, Farber responded: "Senator Cardinale, I have apologized for my mistake. I don't know what else you want me to do."

Hi All-

This is the e-mail that I sent to Zulima Farber (ZFarber@lowenstein.com) as well as the author of the newspaper article (RHepp@starledger.com) who would likely be interested in learning his punishing article has been pulled within twenty-four hours of being posted.Dear Ms. Farber-

The informative article in The Star Ledger newspaper clearly illustrates that you would not be a good choice for Attorney General and I urge you to withdraw your name for consideration.

New Jersey has suffered embarrassment after embarrassment due to the corruption that has plagued our state. Your inability to lead-by-example would only add to the scorn heaped upon our state. Your outrageous driving record, soft-on-crime approach to punishment, and impulsiveness (illustrated by your stated desire to shoot a man in the back) show that you aren't a suitable candidate for this critical job.

I will write to all legislators including Senator Xxxx, Assemblyman Yyyy, and Assemblyman Zzzz to oppose your appointment for the good of the residents, businesses, and visitors to our fine state.

Sincerely,

Blue Jays

I'm curious to see how things unfold in the coming days. It should be clear to everyone by now that Governor Corzine has completely lost his marbles.

I don't believe people should run around with guns. The police should have guns.

I may be from across the river, but last I saw, Jersey cops are still allowed to have guns for now. I'm even sure there are a few cops for every town in NJ. But where were they when this guy had a knife at her neck? Even if they're out there doing their jobs, I'd think there are a few people that dont get a 24/7 police escort, and it would have taken less than the time it takes to dial 911 for that thug to give his blade a little push. Anyone should be immediately impeached for purposely making law-abiding citizens helpless. The first inaliable right is life...so why does every politician want to make that right so hard to hold onto?

The only reason I dont want NJ to sink into the ocean is it blocks any possible tidal waves from hitting PA. After that, we can rename it New California. :barf:

What's wrong with shooting armed robbers, in the back, front or any other place? Methinks that NJ has its priorities backwards. The life of the robber is worth less than the property of the robbed.
