Someone needs to talk me out of this but I was surfing through and found some pictures of Webleys and even an Adams or two. I really liked some of the shorter barrels . I was thinking how unusual it would be to have something in either .455 or .450. Anybody have any info to steer me to as far as where to buy the revolvers or the ammo? Am I really going bonkers? :banghead: Cause I would love to have one, or two!

Lots of Webleys available out there, but they're starting to get pricey. ($500-$600 in un-altered condition) Be careful not to get one that has been converted to .45 ACP. As for Adams, I occasionally see one for sale, but the price tag is usually breathtaking.
.455 MkII ammo is available, but not cheap. 450 Adams ammo could be a problem.

You may just have to keep looking - on Guns America, GunBroker etc. Indeed prices have risen a lot and some stuff out there is far from good condition.

I was lucky with mine - had had all the bits for years and finally rebuilt it - needed new mainspring and top-break lever spring but Brownells sorted that, tho latter spring was a very poor copy - nothing like original ''V'' spring.

I finally cold blued multiple times after prep'ing and it keeps quite well if rubbed down externally with CLP or RIG. It has a slight quirk on SA such that hammer jams if over-travelled. DA is fine. I would suggest going for the original .455 if possible - and if you get Fiocchi brass you can reload some nice light loads using just slightly oversized 230 LRN's.

Oh BTW - you may also come across some old Enfield's in 38 S&W - many are pretty tacky but it is another gun you may see available.

Personally, I have always had a desire for a Merwin & Hulbert. Buy what you want and enjoy it.

Me too for some strange reason though I'll never own one I bet.

I see the Adams in .450 and I also see Fiocchi has for sale a .450 Short Colt. I am guessing yes it would work but the main problem would appear that Fiocchi is loaded too hot for something so old, right?

My grandfather ordered a Webely out of a catalog ad in 1959 for $14.95. It was given to my dad about two months ago with the original reciept and ad from the magazine. Kinda made me chuckle a little when i saw on the ad that the company was in California. Sure wish it were that easy today to get ahold of some of these guns. Anyway dad and I took the Webely out and put a few rounds of 45's through it with half moon clips. Thing shoots like its brand new. Great gun, but even greater stories behind it. One of those that will get handed down for many years to come.

If you have a pic of that gun - it would be great to see!

No sweat - don't go to special trouble. :)

Just - if possible - sometime.

P95carry makes a good point about the .38short and weak. It can be a good way to get into the Webley club without spending a mint. Then you can decide if you really like having one or not.
I had a .38 for a while, and yes I regret selling it. :cuss:
