Shot my first Garand today with PMC ammo. Very windy gusts 15-20MPH. At 100 M it grouped about 2-3 inches and at 25 M had 5 touching. I just got it Tuesday and ammo arrived today. This is now Officially "Ed's Favorite Rifle" Thank ya'll for letting me know about CMP.

Excellent! Sounds like good grouping even without winds!
I've been able to get 2-4" out of mine at 100 when benched. Mostly larger groups. I handload, and I'm still working on the right charge for the bullets I use.
The M1 is still definitely my favorite rifle of all time.
Glad yours is working out well!

Matt:
Try 47 gr. H 4895 behind a 168 gr. Sierra Match King. You'll get the very best out of most M1's with that load out to 600 yds.
The usual caution applies...........start low & work up!

HPS,
I don't really get to shoot at ranges over 200 yards. The local highpower matches are 200 yard reduced. The other local club does 200 yard, but drops back to 300 for the 600 yard stage. I haven't shot that one yet.
Plus, Midway has the bullets I like in packs of 250. I use the Nosler 155gr HPBT match bullets. They seem to work well, but I'm still tweaking my loads. I started light on the charge, but need to work it up a little more to see if a little more oomph gets 'em closer together on paper!
Thanks for the recipe, tho! I always write them down in case I want to try them later!

Matt:
I have used that same load behind both 150's and 168's and they work very well at the shorter ranges as well. Several years ago I bought several thousand 147 gr. Israeli bullets and they shot exceptionally well in my rifles. If your rifle likes the Noslers, go for it, they make good bullets, too.
The SMK's probably do not begin to show dividends until one is shooting somewhere in the upper Expert and up category.
Actually the 175 gr. MK is probably better for 600 yd shooting and beyond than the 168's. Since I shoot a bolt gun, I have gone to the 190's beyond 300, but they are too heavy for the Garand.
Have fun!
