Just wanted to break THR's innocence about these ridiculous prejudices.

Glocks are among the "Great Guns" invented in the 20th Century, but so are the 9mm Luger and .45ACP cartridges.

I knew this was gonna happen. Just for kicks, I'll say 9mm is mo better. ;) And, Glocks DO rule! Especially non-drop free full capacity mags and the old style no finger grooves frame. Heck, why mess with perfection? :D

wrong! wrong wrong wrong! W O N G WRONG! nobody will be happy until theres a nickel plated glock for us all to enjoy, with TWO barrels of different chamberings: 9x19 and .45acp, single stack holding 10 rounds each and small enough to fit on your ankle, OH YEAH! :D

Wow!! talk about a tossing a soft ball..:D

Actually,I did the same thing in the 'Rifle Country' Forum.:D :D

Back on topic,my vote is for .45 for "Big" holes and 9mm for the more affordable ammo..

Pop in a new recoil spring and shoot some .45 Super. Then let's talk!

(Note: Don't actually do this unless you know your gun can do it.)

While we are at it, though, why dont we go ahead and add

Marshall & Sanow -versus- Fackler to the pot!

Much less controversial, right?

How about .44-40? 9x23? Or better yet, the existing-in-imagination-only 10mm Boston?

I've been shooting mainly 9mm for the past several years, with some .380, .357 Mag, and .45 ACP thrown in.

I'm looking to upgrade to a larger caliber and will probably choose a .45ACP, although .40 is also a possibility.

I won't comment on Glocks, I want a steel frame for the next gun. ;)

How did I know that this would re-appear. I just thought it would take longer than about 6 hours.

Well folks, I'm going to take a stand and refuse to kick this dead horse again.

At least for the rest of the week. After that, all bets are off. :D

You'd think so by the number of posts some members have already chalked up. I'm feeling inadequate. :D

I never liked the Colt Series 70 I had (from 1981 until earlier this year; I traded it to Oleg actually), even after I forced myself to spend enough time to get decent (for my standards of marksmanship anyway) with it.

But I did quite enjoy shooting a friend's .45 Super (he had a gunsmith do the conversion, so there's at least a second opinion that the gun could handle it, and somewhat more than just a stronger spring was done).

I don't know if I was evaluating it against other "eeeevil" cartridges I've shot so it came out seeming more pleasant, or if that gun was just nicer than my .45, or what. But it was fun, anyway.

What I kept and mostly shoot was my Glock 17. That one I really get along with.

Hey Blackhawk: how about them pineapples brother. (He's referring to a TFL thread about handling the pain of shooting when afflicted with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Don't have CTS, but I'd found that eating pomegranates eliminated the joint pain I'd been increasing experiencing as time goes by. Pineapples were touted as an alternative, which I'd been seeking since pomegranates are only in season for about 3 months a year.)

Funny you should ask! I got a fresh pineapple last week and substituted it for pomegranates.

First, it's JUST as effective as they are, so there's the substitute!

Second, pineapples have to be the best kept diet secret ever! I first tried some of it for lunch before eating the rest of the meal. It completely screwed up my taste buds so that everything else tasted repulsive. My guess is that somebody munching on fresh pineapple at the beginning of a meal would simply would be repulsed at the thought of eating anything else. There must be some magic compound in the very core or near the rind that does that because canned pineapple doesn't go near the rind and has the core completely cut out.

Guess I'll have to learn to speak Hawaiian.

Mele Kalikimaka, for those of you who care about such things!

Blackhawk-

Its not often that someone makes me almost fall out of my bed reading posts, but you have seemed to have done that twice with this pineapple thing. Glad that the pineapples have given you a hand. You can always make pineapple juice or a mixture of some sort.

Mele Kalikimaka to you too.

I don't know about 9mm and .45. But as far as the 10mm and .40S&W goes, you just discribed my G29!! Except for the nickel plated part. ;)

Sorry folks, gotta jump in! Never had the nerve to comment on
these threads in an established forum, but since we're all new
here...

9mm #1 because.... Low recoil
Low cost
More rounds
Only hits count - (Hit'em right - size don't
matter - assuming enough...)
Penetration

In Glocks, of course! :D

The round does have a purpose. Of course, if I could've bought one of these in .45...

Stuck with a 6" model, oh well. :D
