Corbon 38 and my happy snub

Today I finally had a chance to shoot some Corbon 125 gr. 38+Ps out of my 340. I can carry Remington Golden Sabers, yes, fine, but they just aren't all that accurate, and they are a bit slow on followup shots. So imagine my delight when the Corbon loads (with an advertised velocity of 1100 fps) shot very accurately and gentle as...well, not a pussycat, but significantly more controllable than the next step up.

Now what I'm wondering is whether anyone has any chrono data or anything on how fast these things move from a short barrel, or real world data on their performance, or anything like it? Regrettably, they were not among the loads tested in this great article by Carbon_15:

(which, if you have any interest in such matters, is well worth a glance). But perhaps someone has some answers, somewhere out there. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I carry Cor-bon 110's in my 342, pretty snappy, but I like em. :D

The Corbon 125 gr. JHP+P does 950 fps from snub .38.

Fantastic--thanks, tbeb. That's hot enough to hope for a pretty good chance of expansion and adequate penetration, I'd think. What an oasis of information this place is.

I have some old and new 110+p+ cor bons. the old has a semi jacket HP and the newer load has a JHP.
I forget what the old load clocked at but the newer one went 1100 fps from my S&W 337. I had a small cut healing in the web of my shooting hand and it HURT. The web of the case is visibly balloned or belled, primer looks normal not flat. I can't shoot this load in an Airlite.
I think I will stay with Federal 125 Nyclads.
They did amazing damage to a deer flank in testing.

I am using Pachmayr Comac grips on my 342, they fill my smallish hands well and spread out the impact much better then the Hogue Bantam grips I also have.
Little grips can be a real pain. ;)

adding a packmayer grip would add weight and bulk. It wouldn't be an Airlite anymore. I will stick to standard loads for accuracy, confidence, control and extended practice.

Chris, I too was disapointed that the load you mentioned was excluded. Origonaly it was on the list, but we found chamber pressures well above 38+p specs so they got cut. I wouldnt go so far as to say they are unsafe in a modern arm rated for +p loads, but we didn't feel comfortable including them in the article. You never know what type of weapon the reader might stuff them into.

C15, I understand your reasoning completely. Since I'm shooting them out of a .357, I'm not worried about that potential pressure problem--but you probably did the responsible thing for all those folks shooting grandpa's Chief's special.
