Bullet "placement" doesn't mean much

unless it's to the head, with most pistol rounds. I would rather shoot a guy thru one lung with a good 223 softpoint, than through the heart with a .45 FMJ. The 223 might fail now and then, but it wouldn't be so as often as the .45 rd would fail. I have seen way too much of both, on animals, to believe otherwise. I would trust such a lung hit with the 223 softpoint to stop a charging pitbull, a lot more than I would the .45 fmj thru one's heart to have the same effect. I've seen the 55 gr 223 fmj put down deer every bit as "well" as does the 170 gr 30-30 softpoint, at the same ranges. Upon autopsy, the internal damage looked nearly identical.

Makes sense to me, but concealing a weapon in .223 or 30-30 is not an easy thing to do. ;)
So the relevance of this to the handgun forum is pretty limited. :D
I too would prefer to use a rifle in a lethal force situation, but they won't let me carry one, so I get a 40sw Glock and a 12ga with 00 buckshot.
I prefer the 12ga. :D

If I'm going to join two pieces of wood with a screw I'll use a screwdriver and if I'm going to join them with a nail I'll use a hammer.
Your point being?

Bullet "placement" doesn't mean much
Actually, bullet placement means a heck of a lot.
Especially if the difference in bullet placement is between placing the bullet in your opponent and the bullet being placed in you.

He's backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. :D
If I load a 9mm to 14,000fps, will I have to register it with the ATF?
Good catch Chris, I missed his Modus Operendi. :D

Don't feel bad DE, it took me almost 30 seconds to catch on... and i thought i'd recognize it anywhere, after the last time.
And i think that placement is the single most important factor, aside from the gun actually going 'boom'. A .223, regardless of bullet type, isn't a magical death ray from D&D. A lung shot is going to do some damage, but it still isn't a sure thing--only the heart comes close, to that.
