As my collection grows, I am looking at buying a fire rated gun safe. I was thinking of placing one in the garage, but temperatures in AZ reach 100+ for a couple months in the summer and the garage is usually pretty hot. Would this cause any problems with storing my collection out there?

I store my stuff in a standard safe in the garage. The temps here range from below 0 to over 100. I also keep powder and primers in the garage and have been doing it for over 20 years with no problems.
I wouldn't worry about it.

that kind of temperatures could effect your wood.I keep my safe in a dry
basement with a golden rod dehumidfier rod hanging under the shelf.

I personally would really try to find space indoors. Even somewhere in the basement would be better than 100+ temps in the garage. IMO:)

The good thing where you are at is low humidity (no rain in 100 days or something like that I heard recently) and pretty steady temps that might be high and low but don't jump around that much over long periods of time it might cool way down at night but the temp in the garage doesn't swing like that unless you keep the doors open. Just to verify put a thermometer in the garage and keep track at odd times over a week and you will get a + or -- number. Where a lot of us in other climates get temp swings and humidity that cause condensation build up on the inside of the storage apperatus. Overheating is an interesting question though but I think if you keep your weapons cleaned and lubed you shouldn't have a problem.
