Surefire Carry Case

Hey folks, a while back I bought myself a surefire, to be a specific a G2.

I also bought a carry case for it, but I have already had it pop off my belt twice. And I haven't worn it very much. I need a good case that will secure my light (this case has a velcro flap, that I am less than fond of, though it hasn't been the problem, it is the backing that pops loose) for general carry.

Preferred: Metal snap, and a metal backing, but one that works!

Any ideas?

Sidearmor and Comp-Tac both make kydex flashlight carriers. They're usually used bezel-first and hold it securely, but allow the flashlight to be drawn cleanly. You can adjust the tension on them to hold as tight or as loose as you need.

I use the surefire V70 plastic holder and have never had a problem with it.

I should have noted, the holster I use is a V25.

Beren, which of those do you have, and do you think it holds your light very well?

I have a Side-armor holder I bought five or so years back. It works well. If I were to buy today I'd probably go with Comp-Tac. I have one of their holsters and it's very nice.

I have the surefire plastic holster too, and it seems indestructible.

Good for bezel up or down carry.

Alright, so the V70 is looking like the top choice, following by a Comptac (Like Beren, I like their products).

My main concern is still retention. How well does the V70 hold the light? For obvious reasons, I don't want to reach down, and find it has fallen out.

It will not come out until you pull it out. Turn it upside down and shake it all you want it will not fall out. I have had one for about five years and its still as tight as can be, it uses a presure spring to hold the light in place.

The other nice thing about the v70 is that you can not accidently turn the flashlight on while its in the case because the pressure switch is protected.

Thanks for the tips, V70 if I go with it.

One last possibility. Are their any holders that would carry horizontally?

For example, this is how I carry my spare mag.

Instead of holding the magazine in the traditional vertical way, it holds it flat. To me, this is much easier. Are there any known horizontal holsters for a surefire? Any kind of straps are fine, I do not need a quick release light. All I care about is that the holster doesn't come off my belt, and the light stays put.

Greg at Comp Tac made me some horizontal mag holders. Give him a call. However, CT uses friction fit for retention. With the V70 I beleive it snaps into place. For horizontal carry friction fit might leave you empty handed one day.

Have you checked Fobus?
