I just an ad in a NRA magazine for a Barrett .416 ...it looks just like those "evil" sniper terrorist jet plane destroyers (the .50)...
I didn't see anything on their website, (so, alas, no links) but I thinks it great that Barrett steps up to the plate again.

There's an ad in the February '06 issue of American Rifleman (page 93 bottom center) for a .510 DTC caliber rifle that the manufacturer claims to be legal in CA. It's called the BFG-50 from Serbu Firearms

If the CA law that banned the .50 BMG round is specific to that caliber, you can bet that the CA legislature will be amending the law to show a caliber range to keep manufactures from coming out with various calibers to beat the law.

The Barett ad for the .416 caliber rifle is on page 43 of the same issue.

I'm pretty sure it's more a matter of sticking it to them by selling something new that is effectively just as powerful as what they've already banned than it is a matter of the money.

If money was more important than principles he would never have stopped selling the .50 to California in the first place.

Well how expensive is the machinery to resize the cases? I would imagine that you could do pretty well reloading your brass and buying up 50 brass.

It was no sales or service to californian governmental entities. I'm sure Mr. Barret is eager to help the law-abiding citizens give a .416" middle-finger to their state government :D

If you can shoot down an airliner with a .50, what can you shoot down with .416? Cessnas?

Don't worry about Mr. Barrett's principals being compromised... its only CA gov't institutions he refuses to do business with, not the citizens. I have iton very good authority that LAPD's .50 rifle is still sitting in Ronnie's shop, sent in for repair and never, ever to be returned. :D
