Anyone ever used the slip on type, if so do you need yo remove the rgular buttpad so the stock won't be to long? I have a speedfeed stock so using a standard limbsaver pad for a 870 won't work.

I put one on a Marlin 30/30 for my 12 year old daughter. Made a huge difference in recoil.
I would say that it adds probably an inch to the length of the stock. And the one I got is sort of sticky as in it doesn't slide well across the material of your shirt or coat. But once it's there, it's there to stay.

Does the slip on cuff fit tight neat.

I bought a small for the Marlin and it fit great. They come in more than one size.
The sleeve is around 2 to 2 1/2 inches in length.
If you'll check, the local Walmart carries them here. They may have them in your area as well.

They come in small, med and large. Depending on your needs leave on or remove your original pad. The Limbsaver from Simms or the Pachmayer
Decellerator pads should be on every gun that has any kick, period.

Anyone ever used one of the grind to fit limbsaver pads, if so how simple was it and how did it turn out?

I've never used one of the Limbsavers, but I have used other brands.
I just placed the pad where I wanted it, marked it with a pen and used the fine wheel on a table grinder to work it down usin the side of the wheel.
You could probably use masking tape to mask off the stock for the fine tuning and sand it down with sandpaper, or a small fine file.

I know of one instance where a local gunshop tried to put a Limbsaver grind-to-fit pad on a lever-action rifle. They measured accurately, allowing equal space on each side: but during the grinding process, they actually "ground into" one of the air chambers in the pad, ruining it. This is one reason why I'm a bit leery of Limbsaver pads that require grinding - if the air chamber is a bit off-center, or out of alignment, you can grind into it without warning. A "solid" pad, like the Kick-Eez, doesn't have this problem, and so I generally fit Kick-Eez pads to my guns and those of my friends if fitting is required.

If I get lucky and it is the right size will drilling the holes be all I need to do. Also will I have to shape the inside of the pad to recess inside the stock or are the limbsaver pads designed to fit flush unlike factory pads and the screws are the only thing that hold it on.
