Well there is a provision for a temporary visitors license:

(625 ILCS 5/6‑105.1)

(b) A temporary visitor's driver's license is valid for 3 years, or for the period of time the individual is authorized to remain in this country, whichever ends sooner.
(c) The Secretary shall adopt rules for implementing this Section, including rules regarding the design and content of the temporary visitor's driver's license.

Have your cousin get all of his papers from INS and go to the nearest Illinois Secretary of State's Office and apply.

What if my cousin came illegally to the US? How can he get his license then? Also do you think they will pass the law to grant students who graduated high school in the US, let them get a social security number?

The IRS has a program whereby it issues an 'individual taxpayer identification number' to illegal immigrants. This number is entered into tax returns filed by the illegal immigrant. For all intents and purposes it is a Social Security number.

Illegal immigrants often work in a 'cash' business where there are little or no payroll records.

The IRS couldn't care less about a taxpayer's immigration status. As long as the IRS gets their money they will not report the illegal immigration status of anyone to authorities.

Here is a snip from the IRS website.

_________

An ITIN is a tax processing number, issued by the
Internal Revenue Service, for certain resident and nonresident
aliens, their spouses, and their dependents. It
is a nine-digit number beginning with the number “9”,
has a “7” or “8” for the fourth digit, formatted like an
SSN (9XX-7X-XXXX). The ITIN is only available to individuals
who are required to have a taxpayer identification
number for tax purposes but who do not have, and are
not eligible to obtain, an SSN from the Social Security
Administration (SSA). ITINs are issued regardless of immigration
status because both resident and nonresident
aliens may have United States tax return filing and payment
responsibilities under the Internal Revenue Code.

o residentes permanentes de los Estados Unidos.

"Is there anyway (to get a license)?" - Yes, thru a crooked Illinois DMV employee.

Searching the web indicates that Tennessee and North Carolina give drivers licenses to 'undocumented' aliens. Maybe something to look into.

Not to be a jerk, but if this thread were entitled "illegal Mexicans seeks driver's license", I do not believe the helpful comments would be provided. Instead the comments would be report the illegal to the INS, deport him and have you arrested for harboring a felon.

Surprisingly I have never heard any mention of the TIN number in the "illegal Mexican" discussion.

This sort of demonstrates some of the double standards prevalent here.

mjc306,
There is no legal way for your cousin to get an Illinois drivers license. Your cousin obviously had no criminal intent when he entered the country illegally at age one. But that has no effect on our laws. His parents should have thought about the consequences of their illegal act, not only to them but to their child.

Their illegal act has put him in a bad situation. His only legal option is to return to his home country and apply to enter the United States legally. Nineteen or twenty years of living here without being caught and deported doesn't entitle him to anything.

I'm sorry if that sounds hard and cold, but that's the way things are. I obey the law, and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect others to.

What makes you think America wants you? There are millions of people all over the world who'd do anything to come to America, including waiting in line for years. Legal immigrants have always been one of our nation's greatest strengths. Illegal aliens are nothing but parasites.

Thread title fixed. THR does not provide advice on illegal activity. Of course, in Illinois, you just need to figure out who to pay.
