A CZ question

My dad bought a CZ 52 Sunday and we went to shoot it yesterday. It is pretty accurate and very fun to shoot. The recoil and noise were larger than I expected and that thing shot a good 5-6 inch flame out the barrel.
However, the slide on the CZ doesn't always stay locked back. Has anyone ever experienced this problem and if so how did you fix it.

If the slide doesnt lock back(I assume its after the last round in the mag) then its more than likely the magazine. Try another one

Ditto on the mag. On one of mine (I have 2), one of the mags done the same thing. I noticed the follower didn't come up enough to engage the hold open. The lips on the mag were bent "in" some, not allowing the follower to come up all the way. I tweaked them "up" with a pair of needle nose pliers and the mag was ok.
Man I love the CZ52's, a REAL head turner at the range. They sling brass a mile till you put Wolff heavy recoil springs in them. New springs cut down on the flying brass and helps the pistol from getting battered as bad.

Yeah,I got hit three or four times in the head by brass. I even got hit while my dad was shooting, a good 20 feet away. I've never had a gun hit that flung brass like that.
I'll check about the mags, but it did lock open two times out of about 18 clips.

Hello sir,
Most likely the magazine springs need to be broken in, my SIG magazines are the same way. After a few range sessions they'll start locking the slide back. Some say the position of your thumbs can sometimes hit release the slide stop, but I've dismissed that theory many times, but I wanted to let you know of that possibility also.
Lastly, they're magazines, not clips. :)
Happy shooting!

Yup, my CZ loves to chuck the cases as far away as possible. Good thing I don't reload, I'd spend more time hunting the brass than doing just about anything else.
On the clip vs. mag thing. I've given up. They are used so interchangably now a days, it's just too much to go around correcting everyone.
Not to mention, if I'm going to correct people on that, then I should also correct all the spelling errors I've seen, or should I say the mis-used words.
Like "good buy, I'll catch you later." Or the ever popular, "it doesn't matter weather or not you agree..." I see so much of this anymore, it drives me crazy. These types of errors are not caught by spelling checkers as they are not misspelled. I got more important things to worry about than whether or not it's a clip or a magazine.
But hey, that's just my opinion, your mileage may vary. :D

My CZ-52's used to lock back with ease now I get the not locking back and even the locking back with rounds still in magazine:cuss: Tweaking the mags and cleaning and trying new mags seems to help but I still have it happen sometimes.
