auto loader for gun games

i want a dedicated game gun... what i want is a 40 s&w w/ 14+ capacity, and that doesn't have reliability issues.

i'm not having much luck - keep coming back to para, but para mags are expensive, and it seems the guns have a spotty reputation.

checked out springfield's xd series... i have the xd 40, but would like more capacity. the xd 45 seems almost right, except i don't want another plastic gun, and i want to keep my 45's in 1911 platforms...

so... any suggestions?

Game gun as in IPSC/USPSA? Glock 35, tuned to your liking, with Dawson Precision or Arredondo 140mm magazine extensions giving 20+1 capacity.

appreciate the input, but i suppose i should've clarified price a bit... need to stay under $850 or so... the more under, the better.

i also need a supported chamber (this is mandatory as i handload), and would prefer flush-fit mags, but that one is optional.

The Glock 35 is a valid suggestion. Same size as a 1911. G-35's shoot very well.

I reload for my 35 and believe the unsupported chamber thing is mostly urban legend. If you try to make the 40 something it is not then you will run into problems, same with many other chamberings. I have even used Bullseye powder for my 35. It didn't blow up.

There's nothing wrong with a CZ if you like cheap and reliable.:D

so...tell me about this glock... is the chamber not being supported going to be a problem for my standard 40 load of 8.4 power pistol and 150 noslers? how about subsequent loadings? do i have to stick w/ factory loads w/ a glock - or virgin cases?

Your loads are fine, but you can start to blow out the cases near the rim if you reload them a lot. Glocks bulge the cases with warm loadings.

To help get around that and make major (with a softer feel), think 180/200's and Titegroup. You don;t have to puch the heavier bullets nearly as hard.

i have now, thanks. there's quite a bit of info there, but i can't seem to find much discussion on guns themselves - though it seems to be a given that everybody's driving a very expensive race gun... still, i'll poke around for a couple days and see if i can get a feel for the board before i show up and start spouting my ignorance.

I have been shooting a Glock 17 for three years in IPSC, production. Im doing fairly well. in the top 3 at local matches. Very satisfied with my glock. But as I am getting better at this game, I am looking for a gun shooting major,to shoot in Standard div (approx, the same as Limited). I have been looking at STI and other derivates of 1911. they did fit my hand fairly well, but I have seen to many 1911 who is not functioning well, if it is the people who own them who cant stop fiddling with them or if it is the guns, I dont know. Then I noticed couple of competitiors who was shooting CZ. They had never any problems with reliabilyty. I tried one of them, and the grip angle fits me perfekt. If I point my glock, I have to drop the front sight a couple of millimeters to get an perfect sight picture, with the CZ it was dead on! Also I like that the CZ is all steel, a bit of contrast to the glock. The trigger on the CZ is fully adjustable.
The price is half that of a STI/SVI.

If the unsupported chamber on the Glock 35 causes you to lose sleep, spend the extra $150 and get a KKM barrel for it. It's probably not really necessary, but if it makes you feel better it's worth it.

Loading for a Glock 40 isn't any different than any other commercial 40. There are steps you can take that will eliminate the possibility of setback, that leaves an overcharge or a faulty case as the causes of blow ups. You have 100% control over one and 0 over the other, no different than any other caliber.

I just went to an STI, custom built 'race gun' and it is absolutely awesome. If I hadn't gone with the STI I would have gotten a G22 to dress up and play the part. I prefer the G22 over the 35, shoot both before you buy.

The problem with a CZ for gun games is aftermarket support, it just isn't there yet. Sights, magazines, basepads, etc are hard to find and/or expensive and/or don't exist. I am a HUGE fan of the CZ guns, you won't find more gun for the dollar but I don't think it is the best choice for gun games.

local version of practical shooting... targets set up, run around a little bit and shoot a few, then run a little bit, shoot, then reload behind cover, then shoot a little more...

The Glock will work fine for that. It will also cross over to USPSA and IDPA without a hitch.

If I am reading your description correctly of the "game", then I shoot something similiar and most of the guys run Glocks of one flavor or another.

I run a TZ-75 ( Tanfoglio copy of CZ) in 40 S&W, and have been very happy, it fits my hand very well and once I cleaned the thing it runs without a hitch. It was really dirty and was not wanting to close all the way, pulled the top off, sprayed the gunk away, a little dab o' oil and away we go.

I am planning on getting a CZ-75bd to use instead, 9MM is less costly to shoot and besides, I am already set-up to reload 9MM, and I just WANT a new gun :neener: :neener: :neener:
