Meat Shootin
DontShootMe

My brother wants to go out in the sticks and shoot up some store bought meat. He's talking hams, pork shoulders, roasts and such.
I initially thought he was nuts, but now I'm thinking of going with him.
I am curious to see the differences between JHP and FMJ at long and close range.
Has anyone else ever done this?

Yep, I call it "huntin", and don't have to buy the meat.
;) Too easy...

Make sure you put the meat on a big tarp or something - so you can keep the meat clean and eat it afterwards! No sense in having all that expensive meat go to waste. ;)

This will no doubt be an interesting exercise, but won't tell you how the bullets would act in living animals. Fluid issues and muscle tension, etc. will be lacking, as would any psychological shock factor.
Still, it seems to beat shooting into clay blocks!
Wouldn't eat the shot-up meat without confirming with a doctor that it'd be safe.

I use Playdough, which I could use over and over again. With enough A1 sauce (Bold, preferrably), I probably couldn't tell the difference between it and beef anyway.

Seriously... Playdough.
I bought around 60 or so pounds about 5 years ago and still use it today. Stored in a 5 gallon bucket, it will stay fresh indefinately.
It is good for the all kinds of calibers...
From .45acp from a 4" barrel:

I find my results loosely mirror what is reported from tests involving ballistic gelatin, and you can make little dinosaurs with the playdough afterwards! Can you beat that? I think not! :D

Ask Thompson and Lagarde. That's why they hung around slaughterhouses and tested on livestock, shot corpses that were hanging by the neck, stuff like that. It may not be perfect but I think it is a lot more realistic that clay, playdough or gelatine.

Well, the ravens and turkey vultures will be happy once you guys leave if you leave the meat behind. I bet it gets their seal of approval.

Ol' Badger,
Find one the right size, and kitties can be used as bodyarmor (as demonstrated below).

I'm thinking playdough is the way to go. We used to make our own, basically just flour-and-water paste. Can make gallons of it for a few bucks, and it's re-usable. I've never shot it before, though. something worth trying this summer.
