Greetings all. I shoot mostly military caliber rifles and am wondering what everyone thinks will dry up next. South African 7.62? Yugo 8mm? Hoping to avoid one of those "wish I would have stocked up on that when everybody had it and it was cheap" scenarios. I'm sure all you milsurp shooters have a few of those in your past. So, what's everybody buying?

7.62x54R will be around for ages. It's still in production in many countries and there are vast backstocks of Cold War era surplus.

8x57JS is getting harder to find in surplus. Once the Turk runs out, that will be about it for cheap stuff. Major production stopped with WWII in most nations. But the time to stockpile was probably many decades ago. Stockpiled Turk or Yugo is never going to be that valuable.

The stuff I'd stockpile is Swiss GP-11 7.5 It's among the best ball ammo ever made, and it is no longer being made. Once its gone you'll have to switch to handloads to get the same level of performance.

The two that Cosmoline suggested. If you have any money left over, use it for a reloader and brass.;)

I might have to get some more GP-11 myself. I just got back from the range with my K31 and it did very well with that ammo. I tried some Serbian stuff I had, but it had larger groups right from the start so I didn't shoot much of it.

I am not a precise rifleman and I liked this group. Only 2nd time shooting it. I could not seem to get a 4 shot group in without getting a flyer. I did a few 200 yard shots as well and did a lot better than I thought I would.
