Grip Recommendations for a pocket snub?

Hello all,

I've got a recently acquired Taurus 650CIA snub .357 that I would like to replace the crap Taurus grips on. I would prefer rubber grips such as Pachmyar but still want the gun to fit in my pocket as it does so now. Right now it has the short grip on them where my pinky dangles. I thought about these grips http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/73023-5520-938.html but don't know how much length they would add to the grips....I'm guessing an inch is okay, but I don't want to go crazy.

Any recommendations?

Also, the grips should cost right around $50.00 or less....this ain't no pimp gun.;)

Rubber grips on a pocket gun haven't worked for me. The rubber sticks to the inside of my pocket and makes drawing more difficult. Some nice wood boot grips work well.

Something like this:

I bought the wooden boot grips for my 651 off the Taurus website. I was having the same problem with my pocket lining catching on the rubber grips. However, since installing the wood grips I've had to down load from .357 to .38+P. Doesn't bother me a bit though. I don't think rubber grips have any place on a pocket gun or a gun carried IWB, but that is just my opinion.

The grips that are on it now are rubber and I've had no problem. If I do switch grips though, I'm still going to have to carry full house 125 magnums...otherwise I'd just buy a light weight .38.

I put a set of rubberized Crimson Trace laser grips on my 340SC. They add about a quarter of an inch length to the grip, and with dress pants, khakis, or cargo shorts the gun fits in my pocket just fine.

But you're unlikely to get them for $50 or less.

Pachmayr compacs are small and not too sticky.

Thanks,

I'll give 'em a try.

I have a set of Pachmayr's on my SP 101. trust me, I went through a few grips (stock/Hogue/Eagle Secret Service) before settling on the Pachmayr type.

That was 5 years ago and haven't looked back. They're great for concealment and for range work, even with full house .357's.

I've got some Pachmayr grips on order, coming to me now. I can't wait to try them with .357. The Hogue grips on my 340PD are nice, but they don't cover the backstrap, so it feels like the gun is coming through my palm. I know .357 will still kick like a mule in this gun, but hoping the Pachmayr will make it at least bearable.

I have Badger grips on all S&W J and K Frames. Not sure what my wife will use on her S&W 640 (.357). She may stay with the rubber grips it came with.
The Badger grips are excellent but leave the backstrap exposed. It may make a difference for some with .357s.

Shootist, would you mind posting a link to the type of Pachmayer's you have on your SP101, or posting a pic?
