What kind of truck box would you suggest? I'm looking for something weather resistant enough to carry tools and a rifle. It would need to be secure and impervious to the elements...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Make SURE it is long enough to hold not just your rifle, but your rifle case. When I got car shopping, I take long my largest hard case, and if it doesn't go in the trunk, well... I don't buy that car.

Yeah, I get funny looks. That's better than having to bungie $3,000 worth of boomstick to the roof.

I had a Knox Box for my 97 F150. It had a tray on the top with egg crate that you put your rifles in. You could lock the top tray but still allow access to the tool part underneath. Wish I still had it. :(

Truckvaults RULE!! Their Extreme series is weatherproof. Thier other products all reside under caps, in SUVs, etc.

It has a good lock, and will fit UNDER your soft or hard bed cover.

and a lid on the other truck that covers the whole bed. Lifts up to open. Very secure and keeps dirt/rain out. Makes the bed like a big trunk.......chris3

My F250 crew cab has enough room behind the rear seat to put a hard gun case. Or I can put it in my bed mounted tool box with room to spare. rugerman

My crew cab Silverado has plenty of space on rear seat or - lift that up and plenty of floor.

I added a Leer Browning cap coupla years ago - which has a handy rifle store, lockable. Not as quick for access but - somewhere pretty secure to keep a longarm longer term at times. Downside, a very spendy cap!!

First pic is with unit closed, second is with drop down flap open.

xd - <cough> - IIRC a smidgeon over $2k!!!!!!!:uhoh:

I must say I have found it all I hoped for - and it was hard to get because it is the version that is specially for the ProTech bed I have.

I think Leer does cover a lot of makes and could be the Browning version too. Hope you can find out.

Here is the outside view - the Thiele pod on top serves for more guns at times - lots of blankets and you can stash a few! Also doubles up for small airplane model stuff in summer!

Very nice set up. Know if anything like that is available for us little Ranger drivers. I am considering getting a new F-250 though. But my 3 yr old ranger is paid off which allows me to buy more firearms and ammo.

I cannot say except that the Ranger is so popular that I'd guess by default - they must make 'em.

I haven't search but, I am sure some web searching will turn up info. I got mine thru a local distributor and so did not survey all their options - just ordered the required one.

Only thing I have thought since getting this one - I could have found it useful to have one of those with the big ''hump'' at rear - making access easier but - don't like look of them and so stayed with all level lines.

I agree...hate the look of the humps. I bet they do make access alot easier though.

+1 on the dimond plate box.

Mine is 6 years old and on it's second truck and still looks new. It's a Delta brand and came from Lowe's.

It's nowhere near as nice as P95's bed cap, but alot more affordable if you're on a budget.:D
