Caption for the picture reads, "Winchester Model 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine in .30-'06." Any idea who makes this? The only commercial 1895 I have seen is the .405 takedown model and it's a little rich for my blood.

I was saying to myself lately, if only someone would rerelease an 1895 in 7.62x54R or 30.06, I should be more careful what I wish for...

I'd like to know this, too.

In the past 5-10 years Winchester and Browning have both released 30-06 models of the 1895, that one is a Winchester.

It was originally made by Winchester, later by U.S.Repeating arms. For some reason I thought Browning made some of this model as well, but not sure about that.

Are you asking who currently makes it or who made it in the past? That looks to be a refinished Winchester 1895 SRC. Looks too nice to be original unless it was hardly ever used. I don't think anybody made new production/reproduction carbines ever. If they did please let me know! Winchester used to make the carbine in 30-03, 30-06, 30-40 Krag and rifles in the above along with .405 and 7.62x54R. That last caliber I know they made in the musket version for the Imperial Russian government before the commie revolution. Those are hard to find in decent condition. Most were beat to hell. Anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on the above.

I was asking who was making the one in the photo. I've handled a Miroku-made Browning/Winchester 1895 in .30-40 and was amazed at both the workmanship and how slick the action was. Since in recent years the 1895s have been sold by Winchester but USRA is going out of business, I was wondering if the one in the pic was made by Mikoku, and who'll be selling it.

Dang I'd love one in .303 British so I could share ammo with my Lee-Enfields.

That looks to be a refinished Winchester 1895 SRC.

You think they would refinish a rifle and then show it at the Shot Show? What purpose would that serve. It has to be new production.
