I have a Browning BAR MKII that I aquired in a trade deal without inspecting the bore. Unfortunatly the previouse owner allowed the bore to become pitted (the Crown is fine). It is in "meat-gun" condition; moderatly dinged wood, lights scratches and some blueing wear. I'm very warry of getting my guns scratched or dinged, and I like this gun because I can hunt with it and not worryabout getting the first scratch. It shoot pretty dang good, but I can't help feeling it isnt shooting to its potential. How bad is the pitting hurting my accuracy? By what method are BAR barrels attached? Is it possible and/or cost effective to have the barrel replaced?
Thnanks,
Jason

NOTE: this a civilian hunting rifle not the BAR of WWII fame.
