Went to a gun show this weekend, and it's always a good story, so I thought I would share/vent...
I went looking for a few things...
1. Good deal on an O/U or 1100 12 ga.
2. 21" ASP telescoping baton
3. Ammo
Of course, I found overpriced or beat up guns, and 16" and 26" ASPs. Imagine that. We got there fairly early and it was packed. I mean pushing fire code packed. I walked around to the various tables and saw a lot of ammo, none of it what I was looking for. Walked ********* to elbow with every Bubba and a conglomeration of the world's finest "tactical" marksmen (just ask them how good they are, they'll tell you).
I got to attempt to buy a few things, but didn't want to interrupt the vendor's conversation with Bubba II about how his Mosin will hit steel plates at 600 off hand if he has a good spotter.
As I continued down the line, someone either stepped in something, or they needed to go down to Aisle 4 and get them a clean pair of BDU trousers from Zed, who was busy talking about a Romanian AK he did a trigger job on and it was right at 1 oz. with a nice two stage feel.
It was also about 200 degrees in there, and as I was beginning to say "I gotta get out of here!", I saw it. The AR table. I walked over and the well-dressed vendors said "Pick up anything you might be interested in!", so I did and about 20 mins later he was still dedicated to answering any questions I had. He basically went through and picked all the accessories I said I would want on my future AR, shot me a price, gave me his card, etc. Not once did he turn around and talk to someone else about Ronny's 11.5" upper, he was polite, paid attention to what I wanted, and made suggestions as to what he liked for my application.
Just overall a good guy, and he gave me the AR bug. So now, I do fear I will be looking in to an AR. I wouldn't feel right buying it from anyone but these guys. Good people to deal with and a great example of what a gun show vendor should be!
How is it I went in looking for a shotgun and come out with ARs dancing in my head like sugar plums?
