Now accepting nominations for the gunnie awards, focusing on recent firearms use in the media.

Most stylish use of a firearm in an uprising, nominee is an AP photo ran yesterday of tribal Arabic militias welcoming Kurdish fighters into Mosul. Held aloft at the right one can see a suit jacket clad arm holding a 1911A1 in either nickel or chrome with possible engraving.

Best public bluster accessory. Ministry of Defense or whatever hefty goon brandishing AK underfolder in chrome.

Best sense of old school elan. City official beating bushes for purported U.S. pilots on the Tigris river. The combination of traditional dress, headdress, P-35 with kickin' flap holster and Freedo, we don neeed no steenkin' badges ,Bandido bandoleer demonstrate a regionally inspired macho flair that cannot be equaled in climes where deodorant is readily available.

Best overall use of a loud gun. Pick one. It was 120mm and it's backstop said "made in CCCP" lots of nominees.
