What happened to the Brady Law. I have not been involved with guns for about six years and I am now returning as a hobby, my cousin walked into the store with me yesterday and walked out with a new piece. What happened, not that I am worried about it.

If your cousin has a Texas CHL, he is good for cash and carry just like the good old days. As far as I know non-CHL folks still get to wait 5 days.

I know for a fact he does not have a license because we are signed up for the class later this month!

The Brady nonsense is no longer about waiting periods, its about the "instant" NICS check.

The Brady nonsense is no longer about waiting periods, its about the "instant" NICS check. That's correct. If you are NOT a TX CHL holder, the selling dealer will call in and perform an instant NICS check; if you are cleared, you fill out the Form 4473 and walk out the door with your new purchase. If you *are* a TX CHL holder, than the state has determined that the CHL licensing requirements (which included NICS check) preclude the need for the NICS check and so you can skip that step.
