Aside from Colt-Sauers, Savages, and Sakos, what is the best Stainless Steel Bolt Action Rifle? I ask this because I am interested in a new rifle in .308 with a SS barrel. In particular, I am looking at Tikkas, Remingtons, Winchesters, and Weatherbys. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunatly they are no longer made, but I'm a big fan of my Winchester Classic Stainless. Unlike a lot of guns, everything in this model is stainless, the screws, bolt body, extractor, ejector, springs, firing pin, trigger components,, everything.

I'd look at the Browning Stainless Stalker. (http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=001B&cat_id=035&type_id=008)

I picked one up and that was it... Tikka's are nice, but I'd get the Browning... keep my $$$ here in the USA.

A real "keeper" and well worth the search.

I was about to ask why these weren't mentioned, when I read the topic they were the first to come to my mind.
Are they not very popular here abouts?

Since you didn't specify a price, how about Nesika?

I've got my eye on one of these:

I think the Browning rifles are manufactured in Japan are they not? Nice guns to be sure. But I do think they are Nice Japanese Guns! Correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe the hi powers are just japanese made but I swear that I heard a rep at an NRA convention mention say they were made in Japan.

Browning has been an International corperation for years. They have had guns made in almost every country that makes good guns, but hey what do I know. Now Savage and Remington are still all American though right?

Still, Buy the Tikka. Send a message to American manufacturers to take it up a notch. People bought ford and chevy for years even though quality went down every year.

Hell Remington will not send test targets, or give any moa guarantees.

That might be damn near the most hideous looking rifle I've ever seen.
