Im in the process of getting a older (1964ish) Walther PPK in 7.65 mm..........its a used gun, but in excellant condition.
what are some things i need to look for when i get it?
i hear the springs might need replacing over time, how do i check all of this stuff?

Definitely replace the recoil spring and the mag springs. Firing pin spring too. Extractor spring (gunsmith time) probably a good idea if you have reliability problems.

If the slide locks back every time on an empty mag, just buy a "spare" spring for the hinged piece on the left side of the frame (ejector?) that locks the slide back. They are easy to lose.

Anybody else?

Unless you're planning to carry it or use it for a HD gun, I'd just clean it, shoot it, and let it tell you if it has any problems.

Then I'd make plans to replace springs....

This, hopefully, will be my "dress up" concealed carry gun...

I've had two PPKs, both .380, both stainless, and both needed some tuning for reliability, but neither had spring problems.

If you're going to carry it, run a few hundred rounds through it first to make sure you're happy with its reliability.

They're pretty and exotic. Good luck! :D

The .32 PPK is pretty reliable. The .380 PPK/S is not.

I agree with Blackhawk. Shoot it and see what it will do. IMHO, we have too many people just replacing springs for the fun of it or because someone said to do it. Then they lose parts or break something or get the wrong springs and then wonder why the gun doesn't work.

I would recommend that you buy a second slide lock spring, the "R" shaped one. I've only had trouble with that spring, I had one break and tie up the gun.
