I have an XD 9mm that has worked fine I tried 147 grain hollow points in the gun the other day and it jammed and it has never done this before. Is this to big for the gun?

Try another brand of ammo with those 147s. Try lots of ammo, keep track of any that don't function well. Don't use those. Enjoy your XD. It's a fine pistol!

Thank you it was the Winchester 147s that jammed I normally use the 127s, thanks again

I have fired the gun hundreds of times between practice and competition but normally just use 115 grain plinkin rounds and then 127 grain hollow points for the bedside. I had fired 4 rounds of the 147 grain when it jammed and I wasnt soft wristing the gun either, it was the first time this has happened with this gun. It did not completely eject the shell caseing.

Did you fire more 147gr rds without malfunction or did the problem continue?
From your description it sounds like a stovepie.
Did you drop the mag to see if any rds in the mag were misaligned?
Intermitent problems are difficult to diagnose. Marking your mags is a good idea, some common problems are mag related.

I did drop the mag looking for missaligned bullets and to unload the gun I did not fire it again in case there was a problem so I took it home and took it apart to see if there was something with gun and to clean it I didn't see anything wrong with gun itself, but im not a gunsmith either. The mags that I have for the gun are the Springfield drop free mags that came with the gun the followers seemed to be working properly aswell

I don't think you've got a real problem, or it's certainly too soon to tell. As I understand it, you had ONE round jam? Is that right? Give the gun a good cleaning and go back and try it again.
I shot a box of Winchester 147 gr, and a few 147 gr Federal Hydra Shocks I had left over today in my XD-9. They all worked perfectly.

I have put more than 8,000 rounds through my xd and have never had one jam. some of the ammo was junk that I should not have shot but the xd handled it just fine. My son has the same gun and he has never had a problem either.

I have put several hundred rounds of Winclean through my XD-9 in the past 2 weeks (in the freezing cold too) and not one malfunction. Probably just a messed up round.

Any particular reason why you suggest selling the XD-9 and purchasing a Glock?

Because Glocks are more reliable, have a better finish, a better trigger pull, hold more ammo. Are all around a better gun.

355sigfan,
Sell it and buy a Glock.
Yikes! Are you a sig fan and recommend a Glock? :what:

I used to be a fan of the 357 sig round not anymore. As for sigs their about the best da auto out there. But I prefer 1911's and Glocks. Crunch tickers and long windex trigger dao's are not my thing.

I carry WWB 147 hp's in my XD SC9mm, very accurate and it eats them like a fat lady eating candy. In fact that is the only load I carry in my sc9mm. My service size 9mm has never had a malfunction with anything so far either.
