IMHO I would not use a maverick for trap.

I just do not think the Maverick will hold up. Traditionally trap shooters are the ones who put the highest number of rounds thru a gun, and although they are not the stiffest loads, they make up for it with sheer numbers. 10 and 20 rounds of trap, 250 and 500 shots are not uncommon on a single day. If you are serious about starting into trap, I would look seriously at a used 1100 rem. The gas action absorbs some of the impact from the round and you can usually find decent ones for less than 250 used.

Ive got an 1100 Rem 20ga. but i want to shoot a 12 since my last 12 kinda ate it...I was lookin into the 870 but really didnt like it...just wasnt for me....What would you suggest??? I'm only lookin to spend roughly 200 bucks for it since i'll only go out like once ever week or two....

200 bucks for a trap gun? might try going to a couple of gun shows and see if you can find a used 12 ga. browning or winchester pump. trap really needs a high rib since you will always be shooting at a rising and running away target.
If the range has a skeet range you would probably find that more enjoyable than trap with an inexpensinve shotgun.

if you've already got it, then try it, see if it works for you. if you enjoy it, you'll end up buying something else *anyway* before you wear out the maverick.

my maverick has been in service for almost 10 years and has had a couple thousand rounds put through it.

out of all the guns i own, my maverick has been the absolute best value. i own high end mossberg shotguns, have had opportunities to carry remingtons, and even then, my trusty maverick still rides shotgun every time.
