I have one I bought shortly after they came out. Serial number is 35227. Nice figured walnut as they came back then.

I see all sorts of gadgets for 10-22's and the one that appeals to me is the LEVER mag release.

This rifle is VERY accurate just stock. Always has been. It wears a BalVar 8 scope on Win m100 mounts and even with the factory barrel.

Would it be a sin to change out the mag release? I have never had this one apart so don't know the procedure. Is it an easy swap? I would keep the old one of course.

Its easy to change it, its worth the 5 or 10 bucks, and you'll retain the originality by saving the factory piece. Go for it.

FWIW, I changed my 10/22 mag release by myself when I was about 14 years old, and I was not then, nor am I now, mechanically inclined.

I followed the directions, and then when I was done, I put the directions and the original factory part in the little ziploc baggie and put it in my shooting box. I saw it just the other day... 9 years later.

Collectable? I guess some one would want one. I personally have never hesitated to alter a gun if that suited my purpose. I don't sell them or trade them, just buy them. lol

I would swap out the mag release. It is easy and you don't have to alter any parts to switch it out. Keep the orginal and you will be fine.

I don't think collectible is the word here for those little Rugers. Gun show dealers are trying to pawn off a different way to sell old Rugers. Pre Ban is preferred term. I've seen them up to $400 at some shows.

Only so someone can stick on a pistol grip, flash supressor and folding stock.

To me it kinda takes the joy out of the ol Ruger 10-22.

Greetings!
My first time here, so pardon if asking this question is out of place. But it IS a 10/22 question :).
I've always liked the 77 international, and from studying the 10/22 before deciding which one to buy I hear there is/was an international 10/22.
Since there is not an I-10/22 in current Ruger listings, I was hoping someone here in the know could tell me what years the I-10/22 was available, how the price/performance compared to the other models, and depending on answer of when produced, whether chance of finding a new old stock one is likely.
Thanks in advance for your time & assistance.

IMO, unless it is a very early 10/22, like one of the first 100 or so built, I wouldn't expect to see anything else command a higher than market price with the exceptions of the commemoratives (of which most of those are not high in demand also).
