Ihave a traditions pursuit break open 50 cal everything is fine until a 209 primer is put in the breech plug then the gun has to be slamed so hard to close it the scope won't stay set,i am also afraid it will fire. I have contacted traditions with no response, they won't answer e-mails or letters. Is there an anwser to this.

the problem might be that the breech plug may not have been screwed in completely, so much that the 209 primer sticks out too much to prevent the breech from fully closing. remove the breech plug, then rescrew it.
i have to admit, traditions has one if the worse customer service. i have been happy with their rifles, but the service sucks.

you are right on their customer service.I am very pleased with their rifle until you put a scope on it with the closing problem it is impossible to keep the scope set and it is not a cheap scope, the breech plug is clean and tight in the barrell and it still won't close good going to take it to a gunsmith and see what he says.

I'm not familiar with that gun, but I do know it has an exposed hammer on it. Is there any chance it is interfering with closing the action?

I'll run counter to the trend here. I bought a Traditions Trapper pistol at the local gun show as second hand without the box, papers, etc, but appearing to be unfired. After I got home I found that some one had ground off the top of the trigger so that it would not fire in standard mode, only in set trigger mode. I phoned Traditions and they sent me a new trigger gratis. While putting the new trigger in I had an attack of the stupids and launched a small spring off to a location in some other universe. I then phoned Traditions again and they sent me the srping gratis. So they came through at least once. (Or twice.)
