I have to make a decision either a new BHP Practical or a used(lightly) Kimber Tactical Pro Commander...I come out better in the cash dept with the HP...and boy do I love HP's...but the Kimber looks really nice...I have had 2 SA 1911's loved both...though one took a little work to get running...so I know that I like 1911's but Hi Power's are my favorite all time auto..so I am torn about what to do...I want both but for now that is not an option:banghead: ...I will say that I shot the 1911 good but I do shot my BHP better...Advice please

Kimbers are overrated, go for the HP...
I may be a little biased though. I have a Standard that never fails to feed but I REALLY want a Practical. It's the reliability I like. I've got a few thousand rounds through my Standard with only one hiccup from when it was new. The thing ALWAYS goes bang. I can't vouch for a Kimber like that as I have no experience with any.

Thanks....I feel the same about HP's...I already have a Mark III that never fails...but have been wanting a Practical for a while...I have no experience with Kimber's either but I have heard that they are overrated...I know that ultimately the decision is mine but I like having as much info as possible before making a decision.

Is this for CCW, HD, or plinking?
In that case, which round are you more comfortable with? If you already have guns to cover the above, maybe this is no issue.
Is the Kimber a Series I or II?
Having had both, I would say I like Brownings more, but my Kimber is a fine gun.
For concealed carry or home defense, I would pick the Kimber for the .45 ACP. Mine has always worked well. With smooth grips it is a fine carry gun.
While the HiPower can be concealed, it is more difficult to do. In an area where people wear heavier clothing in the winter, a clogged up 9mm hollowpoint is not a good thing.
So while I wouldn't feel bad about a HiPower, I feel a Commander-sized 1911 is better.
Conversely, for range/plinking, I would pick the HiPower. Ammo is cheaper.

Sir, I've had a Kimber CDP 2 for over a year now, and I love it to death. I paid over $900 for it brand new ! Three weeks ago I bought a Hi-Power ( not a Browning, but an Argentinian clone, the FM m-95 Classic, for $300 ) It shoots dead-on at 15 yds., and has gone trough more than 5oo rds. of Magtechs hardball, and another 500 of both Winchester and Magtec defense ammo without a single hiccup. It carries like a dream on my 5"6', 155 # bony frame, and dissappears in the Galco IWB that I used for the Kimber, and even more so in the Kydex IWB made by Predator Holsters. I haven't carried the Kimber much since. I still love to shoot it, but the HP fits too good ! With a set of Hogue wrap-arounds it comes out of the holster pretty quick and welded to my hand and lined up with my target much quicker than the Kimber ever did ( it is about an inch shorter than my full-size 1911 ) I figure that 13 + another mag. of premium 9mm defense ammo will take care of any goblins.
