Laws differ from state to state but most do not allow you to carry a concealed firearm near an elementary school. They usually set some limit like 100 yards, 1000 feet, whatever.
Suppose you live right next to the school and your property touches school property?

<ObDisclaimer> I am not a lawyer. You should check with your local DA / Law Enforcement, rather than listening to me. </ObDisclaimer>
Most of the laws to that effect are written to exclude "public thoroughfares" and your own private property. So you can't go withing 1000 feet of a school while carrying, unless you're passing by on a public road, or if you're on your own land that just happens to be within 1000 feet of the school.

I read that last section to say that I can drop my kids off at school, no matter what is in my truck. I don't know what my local school dist says, and I don't care too much either.

That has nothing to do with you and your CCW. It allows the school districts to prohibit students using school parking from having firearms in their vehicle while parked on school property.
