I cant figure out

A friend of mine has a rifle but niether one of us can figure out what it is. It has a hexagon barrel about 36 inches long it is a lever action. almost everything has been rubbed off but on the bottom next to the lever all it says is 427, does any body know what this gun might be?

Yes it does look extremely similar to this rifle. He said it looks like there is a piece behind the tigger that broke off like maybe there was a second trigger before the lever
