So after all the ruckous we seem to have caused I thought I would start a nice non-controversial thread that won't get anybody excited......

So .45 or 9mm which is better and why.

How about AK vs. AR post your thoughts.

Maybe we should just stick to the weather. How is the shooting weather in your part of the Country/World?

hmmm...give me one of each, an AR, an AK, a USP45 and a 9mm USP along with about 5000rnds of ammo each and I'd be happy to test them out :D For that I'd even write up a report for you...

and as for the weather, it is great, just make sure to keep those black rifles in the shade so they don't get too terribly hot.

Is AR with 45ACP upper better than an AK re-chambered in 9x19 for repelling grizzly bears?

Actually either is going to hurt when the bear rams the gun down your throat.

Howzabout 57mm?

That's the size of the brass that I bought at Knob Creek (along with a dummy 40mm Bofors shell) to make into a pair of table lamps.

(BTW, I respectfully submit that Bogie's Bunker _is_ on topic, since if I ever have a cop show up at my door asking directions, I'll likely have the whole darn SWAT team camped on my stoop shortly thereafter...)

Those are some big ol' cases - I've cleaned one of 'em, and will take a pic next to the still grungy #2...

If anyone ever sees a pair of camoflage-cover lampshades that'll look good on pair of 18-24" high lamps (with bulb, okay?) let me know about it.

Well, the Group Industries - Vector Uzi is licensed for both 9mm and 45. The conversion kit for about $200 is a whole lot cheaper than buying a new gun for $3200 + $200 tax stamp. 9mm 32 round mags are relatively easy to find compared to 45 16 round mags so the 45 shooter is usually left using 10 round mags. Big whoop.:(

steyr is a safe autoloader to carry chambered, even though it doesnt have all the fancy schmancy doohickeys the glock has to prevent the firing pin 100%, and should your slide be seperated from the frame by your two yr old sons he-man grip it will discharge. and if the machines parts should somehow fail, it will go full auto on you more often than not.

Well, it's like this. I went to the gun store a bunch of times, and I found a SIG 220 for cheap. I bought it, and I really liked it. I still really like it. Then I found a USP for cheap, so I bought that too. I liked it, too, but my SIG was my favorite and the USP was just too huge. I'd have kept it, but I wanted something to carry, and somebody had a Glock 30 for trade, so I traded it. And now I really like my Glock 30 and my SIG 220.

Therefore, I like .45 and don't understand the weird fascination with 9mm. After all, surely everyone else has the same needs as me?

What happened was this. When I got my CPL, I needed a carry weapon, and the USPc .45 was it. Beautiful gun. I had everything I needed. I was happy and all was right with the world. Wrong. While still shooting the .45, I decided I needed a caliber I swore I'd never need. I needed a nine, and I needed a small one. Bought a Taurus PT-111. Nice gun, but not great like the H&K .45. Still not happy. Picked up and handled a Glock 26 and never looked back. Carried my 26 everywhere. Shot so much better than the Millenium, I never shot the Millenium again. So I was happy with my new carry nine and all was right with the world. Wrong. I missed my .45. Decided I needed to go back to the roots of my love affair with .45 ACP, the 1911. My Mark IV was definitely too big to carry (bigger even than the HK) so I had to get a new Kimber Ultra CDP. Sold the Millenium. So now I'm happy again with my .45 and all is right with the world.

But I still like to carry that 9 also.:banghead:

On other posts:
Shaken, oral, tastes great, briefs, tactical vest, white w/ black stripes (I think this is actually true), stainless (matte black is better than either), double-tap, synthetic, neither (beer vs. liquor), the are both probably in their 70s or 80s so you're welcome to them (Ginger vs. Mary Ann), brunettes all the way, Toyota :D (Ford vs. Chevy, I drive a Camry), semi-auto (Get a Glock!), tactical, there are more interesting parts of the body but it would be ungentlemanly of me to elaborate (silicon vs. natural, anyone recognize the movie reference?), paper, cashcashcash (credit=debt), money order, slug, Windows, Internet Explorer, sword (I'm a kumdo guy, so what do you expect?), metal (except for Glocks), AR, bullet placement ;) (a few big holes vs. several small holes), "Bowling for Columbine" (less brain damage, I think...), Remington 870, coffee should only be used to degrease engines (regular vs. decaf), top (of what, I dunno, but better line of sight), Colt, For a date or in a fight? Runt either way.... (runt_of_the_litter vs. Bridget Fonda), plastic, JHP, what the hell are PATRAN, MEDINA (Muslim holy city??), latex and Word?, Marlin Camp Carbine, .45ACP, 12 gauge.

A few more:

DA (or DA/SA or DAO) vs. SA
