Is this some type of Youth hunt or just the Family out looking for dinner.
Either way looks like a good time !!!!!

F4t9r,
BOTH !!!!
Taking my daughter back out to another youth hunt this Sunday. She had shots at two birds last time. First bird that flushed, flustered/excited her so much, it was a clean miss. Second bird she knocked off some tail feathers. I don't think the first bird that flushes this weekend has much of a chance. :D
She normally shoots between 17-23 at trap. A little less at Skeet (she's using a pump and has hit doubles.)
The other one is my son when I was hunting and he was "Handling" ;) the dog. Didn't see a rabbit or pheasant, but found a deer leg bone (brought home to show mom) a dead mouse (stayed in the field), a deer leg (right front, looks like a coyote had carried it off, it stayed in the field also), a Turkey feather (it was allowed to come home) and a fistful of Pheasant tail feathers (those got to come home to show mom also.)
Nothing better in the world then being in the field/woods with your kids.

A handful of feathers, a few photographs, a heartful of memories of a boy, a girl, a dog. You brought home some real treasures, amigo.
Wishing you thousands more.

That's my son and I on his first 'real' deer hunting trip last November. He still hasn't stopped talking about it - and of course, demanding to know if I'm going to let him carry a gun this year.

And none of this belongs in the test area IMHO.
I took my young teen son on his first deer hunt last fall. Hit his first doe, off hand, first shot, opening morning. I'm not sure who was more extatic, Him, or me! I'm looking forward to making more memories in the hunts to come with both of my boys. Scout26 and all the rest of you that take your kids hunting, Thank you for keeping traditions alive.

Card,
That rifle that you are holding appears to be a 742 or 7400 Remington. Is that a stainless finish on it and what year did they make those?
I am so proud of you guys getting out in the outdoors with you kids and teaching them the hunting tradition. I am afraid that that tradition is not taught like it was 20 or 30 years ago. A man that is in our hunting club has started taking his son deer hunting and his son took a doe and a 4 point buck this past deer season. To see that young boy accomplish what he did at a young age made my season. I will never forget the first times that my dad took me hunting and taught me the importance of gun safety. As a kid hunting kept me occupied and kept me out of trouble. Where I live there were not many things to do other than to hunt and fish. The shopping malls were 30 miles away, but I was content on staying around the house. Even now I stay away from the city as much as possibile.

Hey BIGR - yeah, that's my 7400. They made them with a stainless finish for two years, I think. 2003 and 2004, although I could be off by a year or two. It was called the 7400 'Weathermaster'. (as opposed to the usual Woodsmaster title with the 7400's)
It's a .30-06, and I'm really fond of it. I own several Remington autoloaders (a Model 81 in .300 Savage, a 742 and a standard 7400 in .30-06) and the Weathermaster is the most consistently accurate of all of them. The only thing I didn't like much was the black synthetic stock that came with it. It looked cool, but just didn't have the right feel for me, so as you can see in the picture, I traded the synthetic furniture for the classic wood stocks. Looks a little goofy I guess, but I've never gotten too worried about how a gun looks. To me it's all about durability, reliability, and meat on the table. :)

Wonderful pictures.
At the tender age of 34, I've about reached the age where I worry more about making sure the camera makes it with me to my hunts with friends and family than even my firearms. :)
The happy smiles of new hunters in the field with their family makes me smile right here in my living room. :)
More, more!

yea, it seems like I can remeber Remington making those rifles. I have seen a few of the 7600's in the weathermaster just recently. Thinking about buying one of those.

That is so important, as you all surely know. I have seen this kind of attitude and motivation affords for our kids truly pay off. Per our sport and the future of our wounderful kids.
Keep it up gentilemen, it only gets better!
