What did it look like?
There's the Norinco MAK90 AK variant.
There's the Norinco NHM-91 AK variant.
Those are the few I can recall that are similar in name.

Did it have a 20" barrel? If so, it's a Norinco NHM-91.

Sounds like it is simply the long barrel MAK 90.
I had one. Was a good deal more accurate than MAK 90's.
Not sure how much was the barrel being longer or just
having the longer sight radius. But it was better than those
90's.

The NHM-91 is the Chinese semi-auto RPK. I had one & it was super reliable & accurate. I've seen them on Gunbroker & Gunsamerica for anywhere from $495-700. To give you an idea, I sold mine in 2000 for about $750.
