Apparenty Daniel Craig, who is the new 007, HATES GUNS! 007 movies are all about killing. Listen to this qoute from his biography.

"I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other. That's a simple fact. I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them." :scrutiny:

He was also in "Munich" where he played a professional killer & "Road to Perdition" where he was a mobster. Am I the only one who finds this ridiculous?

I already stopped watching 007 movies when Brosnan hung up the tuxedo but the very thought of the new Bond hating guns is just crazy.

Eric Bana, who was also considered for the role, hates guns as well. Is that a requirement for Bond actors? I can see the resume now.

"Aplicants must hate guns, drive a stickshift & have dark hair."

Sorry I went on a rant there but this just annoys me like crazy.

I fail to see what that has to do with the medical profession. :neener:

The Hippocratic Oath:

I swear by Apollo the physician, by ∆sculapius, Hygeia, and Panacea, and I take to witness all the gods, all the goddesses, to keep according to my ability and my judgement, the following Oath.

"To consider dear to me as my parents him who taught me this art; to live in common with him and if necessary to share my goods with him; To look upon his children as my own brothers, to teach them this art if they so desire without fee or written promise; to impart to my sons and the sons of the master who taught me and the disciples who have enrolled themselves and have agreed to the rules of the profession, but to these alone the precepts and the instruction.

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.

To please no one will I prescribe a deadly drug nor give advice which may cause his death.

Nor will I give a woman a pessary to procure abortion.

But I will preserve the purity of my life and my art.

I will not cut for stone, even for patients in whom the disease is manifest; I will leave this operation to be performed by practitioners, specialists in this art.

In every house where I come I will enter only for the good of my patients, keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and all seduction and especially from the pleasures of love with women or with men, be they free or slaves.

All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal.

If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy my life and practice my art, respected by all men and in all times; but if I swerve from it or violate it, may the reverse be my lot."

Uhmmm...do you mean hypocritical? Hippocratic refers to the oath physicians take and/or the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates.

Shoot, RyanM beat me too it.

And yes, it is a tad hypocritical, but he IS an actor after all. Its a ROLE, not his life.

Daniel Craig

I agree. I don't have any intent to "hunt" with my handgun. It's for self defense against people. Soooo what's the problem?

I need some of THOSE bullets. Might improve my range score.

the real question that BEGS to be asked is, why does this nobody have a biography, and who the **** would read it? it's like creed or some crap band having a 'greatest hits' album after two LPs. shouldn't you do SOMETHING before having your own biography? BTW, he had some brilliant comments about handguns...insightful, logical, informed.

He was the worst 007 ever. I could be a better Bond than him. Imagine a wirey, brown haired, blue eyed Blond with glasses & you have me. All Jaws would have to do is knock off my glasses & I'm finished.:D

Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them.

I need bullets like that. Seems like most of the time I try to splatter a soda can the bullet starts out perfectly and then somehow it deliberately misses. I mean, my aim and stance are perfect, of course, but the bullets have a mind of their own. I want a couple of boxes of 007 target seeking bullets.

It is hypocritical in the fact that these actors are willing to make millions using guns in movies yet if they had there way would deny me the use of guns in defense of myself and family. Think of a gun shop owner saying." Yeah I sell guns to make money but if it were up to me the government would confiscate them as soon as they left the store".

I would have liked to see Clive Owen play Bond. After the BMW films I thought he'd be it in a heartbeat.

That IS hypocritical. It is NOT "hipocratic" [sic].

As far as I know, ALL the Bonds are anti-gun. Connery is, and Moore REALLY is. I'm pretty sure George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton are as well.

The real problem with the new Bond is that he can't drive stick. :uhoh:

Darn, I read this entire thread an not one mention of hippos...what a misleading title. :)

He is an actor, he acts, I do not really believe that Leonard Nimoy is a Vulcan (not anymore anyway). His personal prefernce has nothing to do with it. My grandfather hated guns. Absolutely HATED them. I saw him pick my great uncle off the floor by the neck once for bringing a loaded handgun into his house with kids there. He was also a highly decorated veteran of Vietnam, Korea, and WWII. Was it hypocitical of him to accept the flag and medal Ronald Reagan presented him because of his dislike for what he did?

And besides...there is only one Bond. Sean Connery.

Okay... I've been trying, I really have.

But for the life of me I can't quite manage to get the mental picture of a brown haired blond to work.

What am I doing wrong?

In the most recent issues of Guns magazine their is an article on this. Even the Bond incarnate himself, Sean Connery is anti-gun. What has the world come to?:(

Hey, I love hippos...in fact, that is what I want for christmas. My momma says a hippo will eat me up but then, my teacher says a hippo is a vegeterian. :)

Sorry for the very old song reference.

Why do some of you assume that an actor must live his or her life based on the roles they play? Heath Ledger is not gay. Does that make him a hypocrite? If a woman plays a prostitute but isn't one? DUH! Should an actor who plays a blind person poke their eyes out? Should Dustin Hoffman do something to develop autism?

C'mon, let's face it. You want these people to conform to your own personal or political agenda. They don't, so you call them hypocritical because you want those who portray characters who use firearms to love guns.

I had a dentist who is anti-gun in that he won't own them and wishes no one else did (I obviously think this a foolish position), but he saved my life. Yup, I would have died if he hadn't discovered a bacterium in my mouth that was poisoning me while other doctors found nothing. Oh, I shouldn't go to that dentist because he won't go to the range with me or let his son own a gun. Yeah right. He was my dental surgeon because of his skill, period.

Now, you might not want to go to that dentist, and you might not want to see that Bond movie. Perfectly acceptable, none of my business, and I respect that completely. But to have an expectation that actors should mimic the roles they play, well, I think that's just silly.

He cannot drive a stick and I thought he was a natural blond. 2-3. ;)

Yup, NONE of the "Bonds" have been gun guys. Probably, none were great lovers either. My guess is, that pipsqueak firearm wasn't the only tiny thing they were packing!

Meh, he's British. He can't vote here, so I don't particularly care what his stance on guns is. Same with Connery.
