Truly "Hunting" Dogs

I can't link the video. But on CNN's webpage there is a news report about people using dogs to hunt jackrabbits. The CNN reporter isn't too kind about what he's seeing.

This particular group uses Greyhounds. The hunters jump the jackrabbit. They let loose three dogs. The dogs chase down the rabbit and, if they catch it, tear it apart. CNN said they could hear the rabbit screaming the whole time.

The guy in charge works for some corporation in San Fran. Knowing San Fran, after this airs, this guy is in for some major harrassment. San Franciscans are cerifiable.

It may not be too humane for the jackrabbits, but no worse than what a coyote would do.

It's an old-fashioned way of hunting. Such dogs are called "lurchers" over in England, there's a long tradition over there of using greyhound/whippet-crosses for such effect. If you're interested, look for some books by D. Brian Plummer. Interesting reading.
