I have a Savage model 12 22-250 S-Shot and I was considering going to a factory class shoot and trying it out. I mainly shoot at 100yds. and my 5 shot groups are averaging in the mid .2s sometimes lower and I didnt know if this was competetive. Im starting to practice at 300yds. and ave 1 1/4 inches. But i am getting better. I just didnt know how these groups would fair with experienced shooters.

No kidding, I can shoot better than that with my compact 1911. Sheesh. :neener:

For the record, I'm a newb and I'm shooting my savage in .300 win mag with groups around 1" to 2" at 100 yards. I think I should maybe try that aiming thing too.

long-experienced benchrest shooters w/ full-on, purpose built, ground up customs are satisfied w/ .2 at 100. why would you mess around w/ factory class? go get in w/ the big dogs.

go for it dude!!! those groups are pretty sweet, and dakotasin is right. run with the big dogs. the 1 1/4 inch groups at 300yd is pretty good too, but i think with a little work you could get em down to 1". you can do it!!!!!:neener:

Go to a match and try it out under competition conditions.
What's the worst that can happen?

Most target shooters I know would quit plinking with a rifle that accurate and save it for matches.

I did find out they have meets in Bridgeville DE. it consists of score shooting at 600 and 1000yds. My problem is I can only practice out to 300yds. so I would be lost at that distance with shooting as well load development. Any suggestions would be appreciated.I would like to try the egg shoot or postal matches. But I dont know if any are held locally I live on eastern shore md. 2 hours north of chesapeake bay bridge tunnel. THANKS.

if you're shooting .2's at 100 and 1.25 at 300, don't worry about your load - you're good to 600.

the picture thru your scope will take a few shots to get used to, but by the time you get your come-ups done, you'll be fine.

just take it out there and run it. 600 really isn't that far, and nothing to be afraid of. just write down what your adjustment is to your scope so you can return it to your regular zero.
