I'm eyeing up a Mountain Gun in .45 LC with a 4" barrel. I don't need it for carry, but that 4" barrel is just right for a 25 and the weight feels nice.
However, it has been quite a while since I fired any .45 LC at all. I remember it being heavy, but controlable.

Anybody have this gun? Any comments on what recoil is like?

I have shot mine using everything from standard loads, 255 gr to 300 gr w/ a moderate load, and I consider the recoil to be very easy to control.
I use a 2 hand hold.
With cowboy loads its a pussy cat!

Most factory 45 Colt ammo is loaded very light, due to safety concerns with the older pistols that are out there still chambered for black-powder equivalent loads. My mountain gun in .45 Colt was very controllable with factory ammo; with my "hunting" 300 grain loads, it was a hand full, but still nothing abusive...

More controllable than an SAA with 4 3/4" barrel.
I know, I own both.

I've had this one for a couple of years. Just had it at the range last Friday.

With most factory loads, recoil is a non-issue. Very fun shooter...

Not bad at all. Not like a single action, but very manageable.

I've got one for sale in the classifieds if you're looking.

The gun handles all loads I have fired through it wonderfully, even the heavier ones. My lighter K-Frame .357's kick much more than this.

My wife's "home alone" gun is a 4" mountain gun, like the one shown above, loaded with Cor Bon HPs.

This ammo is expensive! I just priced the stuff out at Gander Mountain since Wal-Mart didn't have any and the Remingtons cost about $25 for a box of 50.
So where are the bargains on .45 LC? I could get four boxes of 9mm or 2 of .45 ACP for that price.

For inexpensive .45 Colt ammo, I've learned you pretty much have to reload.
