Just curious... can anyone here recommend a good "intro to blackpowder" book?
Thanks,

Read this:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0595672752/sr=8-2/qid=1141678148/ref=sr_1_2/103-0712725-4311805?%5Fencoding=UTF8 if your interested in percussian handguns.
The NRA also puts out a series of books on the various types of muzzleloaders including rifles, shotguns and handguns. They are good as well.

+1 for Mec's book. Apparently it can be downloaded for instant access!
Also, I cannot speak highly enough of the content in the posts here on THR - what a great source of knowledge, all freely given by the folks who do this for the love of it.
(BTW, you can send me the $10 later Mec! :D )

Mike's (MEC) is great if you're going into handguns. However, if you're into longarms, you might look into something like Lyman's Black Powder Handbook. Be cheap, buy it (Lyman) used. :p If you buy Mike's book, see if you can buy it direct and ask him to autograph it to you. He signed my copy. :D

I'm all out of my autograph samples. The book vendors get better discounts than I do- particularly when it comes to shipping.
Also look in the stickies at the top of this site and read Gatofeo's material. That will get you a lot farther along than most of the industry-generated books on the subject.

Sam Fadala puts out a couple of good books. “The Complete Black powder Handbook 3rd addition” is a good starting point. Amazon.com has quite a few new and used ones at a good price. Sam’s 4th addition is an in depth reloading manual which has black powder cartridge recipes as well.

Get MEC's book. Excellent and very tailored to shooters. I have all of the other books but MEC's was the one that really taught me how to shoot my Walker!

Have seen your Walker Posts and am gratified that I did such a Good Job of showing you how to shoot it.

mec, if you should by chance find life empty and without meaning, I'm sure fulfillment would be yours if you would do another book, maybe on muskets, rifled and otherwise.:)
