Who makes a good Tactical Sling for an M1A

I'm thinking that if anything ever happened and my wife and I had to bug out on foot for any reason I would probably give her my M4 setup. It's probably one of my lightest rifles and it has an Aimpoint ML2 on it. Yes, I know she'll need training on it, but she'll be humping her BOB so I'm thinking about weight limitations for her.

With that said I am thinking that if she has my M4 setup, I'll grab my M1A. It's something with a little more range but definitely heavier then the M4. I currently have a standard leather sling on it that is set up for when I use it in Highpower. Not very flexable and I cannot find a way to carry it like I do the M4, which has a 3 point sling on it.

What I'm trying to find is a similiar sling setup to the 3 point one I have on my M4. Do they exist for the M1A, how do they work and who makes them?

I saw this one at CheaperThanDirt.com. Can't speak to the quality but other stuff I've bought there has been good.

SPECTER (http://www.spectergear.com/), formerly CQB Solutions, makes a few for an M1A.

I have one of their CQB models for my AK. It's very well made, works great, and I can definately recommend it.

I got mine on the cheap, though, through Brownell's with my C&R discount a few years ago. They've since gone up in price a bit, though, you can find them for about $30 if you shop around.

But, from the looks of it, the sling that GhostRider66 posted is very similar to SPECTER's and is a bit less expensive.

Colonel Cooper suggests the CHING sling. A three point sling that allows comfortable carry, they say, and very quick transistion into action.

Go here:

Rather pricey at $72 from GALCO and requires the installation of a third mount at the stock pistol grip. Never tried one but would like to use one on my M1A for NOLA/Katrina type events.

If you're looking for the 3-poing type, can't go wrong with Wilderness.

You cannot go wrong with Specter Gear (again, formerly CQB Solutions). I had one of their 3-points on my M16 in Iraq, I've got one on my 870P MAX, and I plan on putting one on my M1A Scout. No complaints...great quality.

Shame on you !!! Its an M1a MAN . I have no problem humping mine with my M1917 sling . You should know better being a High Power shooter.

Give your M1a a hug and you get 5 lashes with a tactical wet noodle.

+1.

M1A's are to be cherished, not TACTICOOL'ed out.

You put all the extra plastic doo-dads on the AR-15's because they have a sissy cartridge to shoot and need to compensate for something.

Actually the "m1917" sling works great when shooting highpower. But I'm thinking if I have to bug out, I'll have a pack on along with other gear. I figure a 3 point sling will make it easier to carry and bring to bear when needed.

I fully agree though about attachements and fancy do dads. Not for my M1a. Iron sight are fine for me with this rifle. 5 lashes may be to much. I'll compromise with 3. I'll give it two hugs.

On a side note, I'm seriously considering getting the Scout Squad or Socom II to add with my rifle collection. Price is very steep and the rail system on the Socom II seems to add a LOT of front end weight to the rifle. Hummmm, I may have to stay with the Scout Squad on this choice. Then again, $1500 is almost highway robbery. I'll have to keep an eye out for a used one.

I'll also recommend the Wilderness' Giles sling.

Rock ,
I'd think on the Scout before the SOCOM. The break on the SOCOM is F*&^ loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO you cant exchange hugs for lashes!!!

I know this is an old topic but I came across this for the poor men among us.

Simple guide to making your own sling if you feel the need to be 'tactical'. I'll be trying this out since its only 10$ roughly of material.
