In To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth, Col. Jeff Cooper tells of the attempted hijacking of an Air Iberia Madrid/Rome flight. Cooper says that the passengers killed two hijackers, after which the crew covered the bodies and passed out drinks.

I wanted to find out more about this, but can't find any corroboration of this event. There is a record (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19770502-0) of a hijacking on a Madrid/Rome Air Iberia flight in 1977, but the Aviation Safety Network describes it as "One hijacker. Plane stormed/hijacker arrested. Duration of the hijacking: less than 1 day." The ASN lists other Iberia hijackings:

1970 One hijacker demanded to be taken to Albania. Hijacker surrendered. (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19700107-0)

1977 A...hijacker...was arrested by policemen pretending to be airline crew members. (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19770314-0)

1979 Three hijackers. Hijackers surrendered. (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19790805-0)

1996 A Lebanese man hijacke[d]...the hijacker surrendered to the FBI. (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19960726-0)

1998 Mental patient...surrendered a few hours after talking with his psychiatrist on the telephone. (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19980623-0)

None of these seem to fit. Does anyone know the incident that Cooper is discussing?

I have heard of this on a PRC internal flight-do not know if it is true.
