Being a Smith Nut, I can appreciate the quality of work that goes into the Performance Center guns. With that being said, I just can't warm up to the color case frames. The color is beautiful though.

Not being much of a wheelgunner-yet-why don't they color the barrel and cylinder as well?

Thanks for the nice comments, guys.

The color case frame is a bit funky to look at, but I am warming up to it. It seems kind of like a Damascus blade -- no two are exactly the same and that is what makes them so special.

Boats,
From what I understand, doing the color case operation is pretty difficult and can easily lead to warping. Perhaps the barrel and cylinder don't color very well because they are rounded surfaces? I don't know, exactly, but I am sure that S&W has a good reason.

I'm taking her out this Saturday, so I'll let you know how she groups! :)

Pretty indeed ....... but being fussy .... for me those grips are way too ''skinny'' ..... big paws ya see!

Color? Funny .... it looks good on an ole 1861 repro cap&ball but on this one ..... nope, not for me.

if you did happen to tire of it tho .. I am sure I could help you find a home for it .... nevertheless!:p :D

P95Carry,
The grips are thicker than they are wide. It feels a bit funny at first, but the gun points very well and fill out my hands nicely.

The trigger pull is heavier than I expected for a PC gun, but the pull is very smooth and the break is like the proverbial glass rod. Nicely executed trigger pull, but, like I said, a bit heavy for my personal tastes. The SA trigger is light and crisp.

The color is growing on me and you can just swim in the bluing on the barrel and cylinder. The Performance Center logo is very nicely stamped into the frame. I have never seen as nice a stamping as this one.

I'm happy. :p

While I think it looks odd at first, that is a very fine looking weapon. Bravo on your purchase tetchaje :)

I still think that the ones with the case colored frames should have been called the "Vaguely Old Timey Looking Series" as opposed to the "Heritage Series". ;)

"I still think that the ones with the case colored frames should have been called the "Vaguely Old Timey Looking Series" as opposed to the "Heritage Series"."

Perhaps a more appropriate name would be "The We've Run Out of Ideas and Money All At The Same Time so We Are Going to Re-Issue Old Classics With Features They Didn't All Have But We Will Shamelessly Pander Then Anyways At High Prices Series".

Truth in advertising. Two mutually exclusive concepts.

Alright, laugh you guys, but the price was so good I couldn't pass it up. :p

This may be my only chance to own a bona-fide Performance Center piece, so I have happily adopted this odd-duckling into my collection... :)

Apparently a few of the "case-colored frame" Heritage models went over like the proverbial, um, bolus in a punchbowl, and CDNN snatched up the lot for pennies on the dollar. This may be the most inexpensive way to get your hands on a NIB PC gun in the last ten years...

"Alright, laugh you guys, but the price was so good I couldn't pass it up."

Actually I wasn't laughing at YOU. As I said before I think you got a really nice pistol there. Heck I even have a PC681, a 7-shot magnum myself.

I just think that it was a marketing ploy by S&W more than anything else.

Opinions vary. So do mine. :D
