My friend is a US citizen living in Canada. He wants to buy a percussion rifle from a friend in PA.Does he have to go through an FFL dealer? Can he legally bring the rifle home as he would have to cross a state line?

We know what has to be done once he gets it to the border, just want to make sure he's legal in the states.
Thanks in advance.
Glenn

Black powder guns are not federally regulated in the states. So, he should have no trouble buying one. I don't think there are restrictions on flintlocks in Canada but percussion might be another matter. Any Canadian members here with insights they could share?

Thanks Gary, that's what we needed to know.
Purcussion arms are regulated in Canada. We have the information needed to legally get it home from the border just had trouble getting information on the US side.

Flintlocks aren't regulated in either country.

Glenn, do you ever shoot at Trail's End range? Do you know George Wortner the Chatham gunsmith?I used to shoot with the Upper Canada Rifles out of TO, moved to BC in '75.
