Sig DAK models...

Wow, Sig redid its website and I see they offer DAK models with 7-lb double action triggers. Anyone have one of the DAK models? Is it worth the extra cash?
The P239 DAK looks nice...

I REALLY like the DAK triggers. To the point that I have slowly sold off my non-DAK triggered Sigs and replaced them with DAK's. I really want a P239 9mm in DAK.

I don't get it??
What is it about the double actions that people like? I own one DAO pistol which is a Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro. The only purpose I see for the DA is it's somewhat safer. It certainly is more challenging in terms of maintaining accuracy. What exactly am I missing that makes the DAK so interesting?

For me, and for a lot of people I think, the advantage is the same trigger pull, every time. The traditional SIG DA/SA (which is one of the nicest of the breed, by the way) has the characteristic 'transition' from the first ~12 lb DA pull to the subsequent ~4.5 lb. SA pull. Many of us (ME:D ) have a problem with that transtition, not doing a very good job of hitting with the first DA shot, usually.
The DAK substitutes a consistent ~6.5 lb pull for every shoot, eliminating that transition, thus making the pistol easier to shoot accurately.
This of course does not apply to everyone -- I have seen some astonishing feats of marksmanship done with the traditional DA/SA guns. But the DAK is a great option for those of us who do have issues with the DA/SA.

I just surfed the SIG sight yesterday and printed the specs for the P239 DAK
It lists one pull weight, 7.
This is only .7" longer, .6" taller and .3" thicker than a Kahr CW9....and you get 8+1 vs. 7+1.
Sounds like a great CCW candidate!

I got a P239 DAK. I tried a tradional DA/SA 239 but, I am not used to using a decocker and felt that, eventually, I was going to accidently shove a cocked and unlocked pistol in my holster or waistband and shoot myself in the butt. I shoot revolvers and an issue Glock, so, I am used to the point and shoot guns. I carried a Govt model for many years....And, I still occassionally sweep off the imaginary thumb safety on my Glock. Muscle memory is hard to get rid of.
The DAK is a nice flat handy 8 shot revolver for me. I think, if you work with it exclusivley, the tradtional DA/SA might be a little faster for split times, and, is a great system, but, it doesn't work for me.

For me, what makes the DAK look interesting is the trigger pull and quality. 7.5 very smooth lbs is what is advertised. The quality of the trigger pull might even make it feel less than the advertised weight.
Compare this to a Browning Hi-Power single-action only trigger pull that may weight 9+ lbs (some of the Hi-Power triggers I've tried feel more like 12+ lbs--most likely due to the horrible stacking at the end), and has horrible smoothness IMO, or even a S&W DA/SA autoloader for that matter (I name these brands because IMO they have the worst single-action triggers I've ever tried in an autoloader in their price class).
I'd take a consistently smooth DAO trigger @ 7.5 lbs over a terrible SA or SA/DA trigger any day.
While it could be argued that Sig makes great SA/DA triggers (I'd agree with this since I have non-DAK SA/DA Sigs), I kind of like one consistent trigger pull for a gun...which the DAK apparently offers.

I have a 229 SAS which has the DAK trigger. I bought it for two reasons, 1, I love Sig and 2, I was intrigued by something new.
Let me tell you, it took a whole lot of ammo (>500 rounds) for me to get a feel for the DAK trigger. Once I figured it out then I liked it.
Being a 1911 person to the core probably didn't help me learn the DAK trigger.

I wonder if there are any trigger jobs for the DAK?
I like it in concept since I cant work a sig decocker for the life of me (lefty), but I have yet to play with one (a DAK that is)

Never been too fond of SIGs (always preferred S&W autoloaders) but their SAS DAK models finally caused me to get a couple ...

... and I've been very happy with them. Wish I had the money to get the four other SAS DAK models that they're offering.
