Some of you may remember me posting for help with regards to light strikes on my Freedom Arms mini revolver.
Swapped out the nipples, changed the cylinder still no effect.
Spoke to FA and they kindly sent me out a new main spring.

Has anyone ever changed one these on a mini revolver:confused:

Did it last night, felt like I had eye strain afterwards:what: , very fiddley but it let me see just how well made these little guns are, really quite impressive.:)

The old main spring was completely out of shape compared to the new one.
Very rewarding exprience, tried to cock the action afterwards and first off thought I'd put it back together wrong. I then realised it was just very, very stiff, the hammer really tries to cut into your thumb when you pull it back.
It's definately a much stronger blow now, but I havn't test-fired it yet.

The only thing I would say is that it makes de-cocking the hammer it tricky now, as the hammer falls so quickly that you bearly have time to release the trigger.

Anyone do similar stuff, or do you generally leave it to gunsmiths?

I didn't know that Freedom Arms made a mini-revolver. I went to their site. They list a manual (.pdf format) that can be downloaded.)

It's an older pistol, I think they were made in the late 80's.
It's labelled "Casull's Improvement"
It is what NAA based their design on, even though it's an older pistol FA still stock all the spares for them and they are all very well priced as well.
Picked up mine from a dealer over here in the UK for £170 ($300) with the loading press, powder scoop 100 bullets and leather FA case.

I know it's alot but the NAA'a are $270($470) over here and that's if you can get one, they are like hen's teeth.
The FA mini are a different matter, though I only know of 3 others in the country!!(UK) and I belive FA only made a limited run of percussion pistols aswell.

I've have since ordered a spare cylinder, 500 bullets and a few replacement springs, the shipping is more than the cost of the items in most cases;)

Allow me to second this writer's statement as to quality of this little revolver. Mine here for a week now, no problems and a true shirt pocket revolver. MORE impressive, i saw the gunsmith shoot one of HIS mini revolvers at 100 yard IPSC target and plant all five on it, admittedly no group, all over the cardboard. I just looked at him and said; 'I hate you'. (I'm trying to keep all five on a playing card at 15 feet.)

BIG question is; If these high quality revolvers can be produced&sold in the U.S. for 169.95 (Magnum version, on sale, shipping included) then WHY can't we get a domestic 1858 Remington Clone or an 1860 Colt Army clone for say 350.00? Or even 400.00? Would dump every stock/unsmithed Italian revolver tomorrow for this!

(I'm trying to keep all five on a playing card at 15 feet.)

I'm taking mine out tonight, but I don't think I'll be getting any playing card sized groups, maybe at 2 feet, but not 15:)

Changing the main spring worked the pistol is now perfect, just need to bring me up to speed, could only get it to group about 10" at 15 yards:confused:

Think I need more practice at loading it rather than firing it??

If it's the same as the NAAs without a rear sight, I'd say 10" at 15 yards is good.

Yeap, no rear sight, but with a bit more practice I should be able to get that dam squirrel in my garden:)

I'm impressed you're able to get 10" groups at 45 feet with that, then!

Any one thats used mine hasn't even hit the card at 10yds:)
But it is now alot easier to hold on to now I've changed the crappy plastic grips for nice wooden ones:cool:
I think mine would shoot straighter if I had a better way of loading it, that press that comes with it seems great for loading the bullets crooked:mad:

Do you use a capper or do you just push them on from the tin?

Going to be a LOT better to hit with in a week or so! Gettin' the local 'smiths; 'Ittie-Bittie Teensie-Weenie rear sight conversion' for this gun. Solves that 'point&shoot' problem!

Oh, and sorry, missed question earlier, no i cap from the tin no capper i've tried will work. Now a locking vein clamp or 'Forcep' might show some promise as these are fussy to cap.

When the local barrelmaker blackpowder gunsmith makes a group of the aftermarket bulletseaters (That seats them STRAIGHT!!) do ya want one?
