Uberti Carbine Innards

I dis-assembled my Uberti Carbine to do some stoning and to reblue(did I say that?) the frame after I port it. The parts are hardened properly but NONE of the internal surfaces of the frame are polished and still have the casting finish (now The "Millenium" (sic) Finish?) I cannot believe they didn't at least clean off the casting finish. Guess I need to go get some nail files at the grocery. This carbine is 14 years old. Has Uberti cleaned up their act?

Any suggestions as to what to use to polish the inner surfaces of the Carbine frame?

That is one thing I noticed on my Euroarms '58 pistol was that the interior surfaces were polished slick before the blueing process. Are they all that way or did I luck out?

Folks do love to polish, but keep in mind that the only place it matters is where parts rub together under pressure (spring pressure or otherwise).

So the front of the hand slot is one area that might need attention, and maybe opposite of the cylinder bolt and trigger. But otherwise when you get done it won't make a whole lot of difference.

Brownells has a special stone designed for hand slots, which is handy but not necessary.

Uberti will put as much handwork into an arm as the importer/seller is willing to pay for. This is partly the reason if you check out different companies you will see what appears to be the same gun, but for much different prices.
