Seeing as to how we seem to have a sizeable amount of members from New England, would there be anyone interested in getting together at a range around New England and perhaps having a small private shoot?

I am interested but work most weekends.

I'd be up for it.

If anyone comes out to Martha's Vineyard in the summer and would like to shoot handguns while the SO shops,PM me.I can only shoot rifles on Sundays but have some EBR's to plink with or we could do some skeet or trap.

I'm interested, but like outofbattery all I've got are a couple of .22's and some shotguns. I'm up for some trap, skeet or just plinking, heck maybe I can talk Mrs. Twigg in to coming along if there are any lady shooters coming along. I've got an eight year old boy who likes to shoot too.

Oh,I've got a few pistols to take along either here or there:Glocks, few SIG's,Beretta, couple S&W autos and wheelguns,Walther,BHP,HK,1911's if anybody would want to try any of them out and a couple .22's; it's just that the range is pistol and shotgun only.

Does anyone have a home range that would be agreeable to hosting this?

I hate to give up good secrets but the distance of this location will probably keep it safe from doofi, plus this is THR so everybody automatically gets the benefit of the doubt.

There is a sandpit owned by the town of Orford, NH that is available for shooting Monday through Saturday during daylight hours. There are a couple of caveats about using it, though. First, if there are guys riding dirtbikes or ATVs when you show up you have to give them first dibs. Second, the town shut the pit down for several years because people weren't policing their targets and other garbage. Third, don't get all squirrely if the local cop shows up. He probably just wants to see what you're shooting.

If you go, be sure to police your targets and shotshells. Brass is fine to leave behind. Also, visit Harry Osmer at the Shooter's Shack on Rt. 25A. It's a small shop but Harry is a great guy.

Oh, I almost forgot. The sandpit is 250x100 yards with 30' berms on three sides.

I thought the last of the great sand pit ranges died out a long time ago! I'd definitely like to go there...

I see a lot of people saying that they only have .22s and shotguns...what more do you need? I learned to shoot on a .22, and I'd really like to get another one. I miss being able to get 500+ rounds at Wal Mart for $9 and having something I can shoot all day long and not bruise my shoulder...

Wherever we hold this lil shindig, I would like to have safety as a first priority.

If y'all would be interested, we at the RWVA would sure be interested in having an Appleseed shoot up in Liberty's birthplace (though would prefer not MA for obvious reasons).

It does sound intriguing. I have some fond memories of sandpit shooting.

I'll need to apply for an NH LTC. If I get it in time I can bring up a bunch of handguns.

Count me in for sure. I have a few toys I can bring. Oh yeah, I can get bowling pins for free, I have 30 or so in my garage right now. My Dad is good friends with a guy that owns a bowling alley and they are putting new pins in so he said if I needed more to let him know. I live in Farmington, NH and I don't work so anytime is a good time for me.:D :D

There are still a few good sand pits left near me. It's pretty much the same deal as Devonai was referring to. Every once in awhile there are a few idiots there and I leave. I don't want to be around people who don't know what "safety" means.

Hey everyone
I would be cool with going to NH I have freinds there. I don't know where Orford is so I'll have to look into it. Tell me when and exactly where and I'll do my best to get there.

Edited to add, OK its near Piermont, Im sure I can find it. Just a little south of St. Johnsbury

Also what about Folks In Vermont Shouldn't they come too???

Eddie Coyle, I just checked packing.org, (http://www.packing.org/state/new_hampshire/) Under "peaceable journey" it states that noone shall carry a LOADED firearm in thir vehicle, unless they're liscenced. I'm assuming that you can carry cased/locked/unloaded firearms in your vehicle to the range, regardless of what state you're from. I do the same thing in Mass all the time when I shoot in Townsend, but before I did I checked with the state police. You may wish to contact the NH state police and ask though.

Mr Twigg, I say the more .22s, the better!

Nash,

Does that go for handguns or just long guns? No big deal - I've been planning on getting an NH LTC for a while, this'll get me to send in the paperwork.

Where do you shoot in Townsend? I live about a mile from Townsend.

Occasionally I hook up with a couple people who have other friends who are members of Townsend Rod and Gun. Do you by any chance live in Pepperell Eddie?
