I am desperately trying to find a leather holster for a Ruger Redhawk 5-1/2" barrel that doesn't have a thumbstrap. I REALLY want an IWB for this gun (really, it's doable), but that seems to be an non-existant item. So a simple belt holster will suffice.

Will holsters made for S&W model 29's work?

I'd try Kramer (www.kramerleather.com). I had them do a IWB#2 for me for my M58 (N frame). I know the Redhawk is not listed on their website as a revolver they make a holster for, but neither is the M58 (and the Redhawk is MUCH more popular than the M58). The holster is actually fitted to the 58 (no ejector rod shroud) and not the 57. Take a look at the IWB #2 and the Thomas Perfectionist. I'd probably lean towards the TP myself.

sort of on topic: I've found that one of my uncle mikes shoulder holsers will hold it very well. Also, this Bianchi x2100 spring clamp vertical shoulder holster while made for an n frame, with securely clamp the 5.5" RH. I can wear it under a vest or over a tee shirt and under an open sports shirt.

Take a look at Mernickle Custom Holsters and shoot them an e-mail even if it isn't listed. They make some real nice stuff.

Ted Blocker used to make a dynamite nylon vertical. Super confortable. I used it for my Redhawk, and later a Causul for elk hunting.
Ted is in Clackamas, Oregon
