I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the S&W 648.
I have a S&W 617, 6 inch barrel, 6 shot and I really like it. It shoots very well.
I have a chance to buy a 648, 6 inch barrel. I have never owned a 22 mag in either a rifle or a pistol. I am looking for some feedback.
Thanks

Basically no different than your M617 except it requires a more expensive diet and makes more noise.

Nice cartridge, but expensive, I can just about hand load .38 specials for what it costs to shoot .22 magnums, and .38s make a nicer hole!

I think it is a good one to add to your battery. 22WMR's make a lot more noise than typical 22LR. But, so does a 357. If you are like me, you won't shoot it much, but so what. Buy it and enjoy it.

It'll basically give you ballistics similar to a .22lr from a rifle but out of a pistol. It's an undersung round that is good from a pistol and great from a rifle, and you get jacketed bullets which you can't have with a .22lr. I'd be all over it if I could find one.

Thanks to everyone.
There are pro's and con's. I think that I am leaning toward buying it. I guess you can never have too many Smiths.
