I have one of these boxes:

I've had it for about a year, and the instructions are long gone. For some reason two nights ago it started beeping when the buttons are pushed. I changed the batteries in case that was it, but no change. Anybody know what the beeping means, and how to turn it off?

Beeping when buttons are pushed (one beep per touch) or beeping continuously?

When the buttons are pushed. I had opened it an hour or so before and they weren't beeping. Now they won't stop. It's just an annoyance, if a BG is in my house he won't be able to hear the beeps over the dog barking. However, if it is a failure of the circuitry, that's a problem. Stack-on emailed me the instructions but they are only for resetting the combination (which I tried, just for s***s and giggles).

I tried holding down the * button, the # button, both, no change. The only thing I haven't tried is opening it with they key to see if that resets anything.

When we buy a house we're going to get a real fire safe...

I have two of these in different sizes, but a few years older. They have always beeped when pushing the buttons and there is no way to turn it off. Not sure if the newer models are different or why yours wasn't beeping before. I wouldn't see how the key would reset anything.

The beeping is not a big issue for me as I normally have a gun accessable. IMO if a BG is in your house and you need to open a safe, you have a bigger problem then him/her hearing the beeps.

It's only in the safe when I'm sleeping. I have 5 young kids so I can't leave it on the nightstand. The dog is an 85# German Shepherd mix, he's here to give the BG the idea to go somewhere else.

Strange about the beeps. Perhaps mine was actually defective from the start, and the circuit got "bumped" closed. Never a problem with the lock, I think I'll disconnect the speaker (for lack of a better term).
